LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
I practically drowned. So my job, as many of you know by now, is a Carry-Out at a hardware store. Basically I am the guy who pushes the carts inside and helps people load things. Which at this place is an all day affair. Today, around....7 PMish began what can only be described as one hell of a storm. Rain that within moments basically flooded the parking lot to the point that there were inch deep puddles.Wind that blew said rain into the store when the doors opened.Loud as hell thunder.Frequent flashes of lightning. There were three of us today, a rarity as there are literally only three of us period, but they left at five. We close at nine. It was a huge yearly sale (still is for one more day) and the weekend.We. Were. Busy. And so there were literally over 100 shopping carts outside when said storm hit. Now I can take more but it's not a good idea (due to having to steer them) to take more than 10 at a time. It usually takes about 5 minutes to get a row inside. There are also other kinds of carts for lumber and such which I can take three at a time. So basically an hour or two of work. While this storm was going on.This also happened to be the type of storm that drops in suddenly. I was outside, it was clear, a few sprinkles, then suddenly downpour. I'm in a t-shirt. We have some raincoats but they are really crappy. Plus I was already soaked. Then the lightning happened. And I am pushing metal carts. So yeah I went inside and took care of some of the inside things I also have to do. The storm was still continuing. It was 40 minutes to close. There were still people shopping and still about the same level of carts. I had to go out again in the rain, wind, and lightning. It had slowed a bit so I decided, since I would have to stay after close until the carts are in anyway, that I would just brave it and go out there. I was blind. The rain was in my eyes, covering my glasses, I was squinting to see in front of me. Water somehow managed to get up my nose, hence the drowning earlier, and that was unpleasant to say the least. Then I literally saw bolts of lighting across the sky nearby. I go back inside, inform the Head Cashier (boss of the cashiers and me, but below the front end assistant manager and manager) that I literally saw lighting. "It's just heat lightning you'll be fine."Thank you and your expert scientific opinion, low-level management at hardware store lady. So basically I had to go back out there. I didn't get everything in until half an hour after close. It was an adventure to say the least.I'm not even mad I just felt like rambling about this.
