Personal Information

x393wz.jpg

Name: Princess Chloé Chloé

Age Approximation: 16

Gender: Female

Race: Human

[spoiler=Appearance]uwY78DU.png

A first-time gamer, Chloé was initially overwhelmed by the wealth of options available during the character creation process. To her older brother's endless amusement, she quickly chose the simplest course of action—skipping all of it. Her avatar is fairly unique, as she is one of a small handful of Bluefire players that opted to recreate their real-life appearances for in-game purposes, down to the last imperfection. As most of her in-game hours were logged in the arctic region known as Skryx's North, her outfit consists of winter-themed gear that allows her to brave the cold: gloves, boots, a skirt worn with thermal leggings, and a hooded cape lined with white fur. Pale, slender, and petite, she stands at 5"4 and weighs approximately 110 lbs. Her long blonde hair is usually worn in a simple french braid over one shoulder, tied with a light blue silk ribbon.

[spoiler=Personality]Timid and soft-spoken, Chloé tends to fade into the background for those who don't know her well, preferring to allow others to take the lead in most situations. All too aware of her ignorance when it comes to the more sophisticated aspects of high-level gaming, she instinctively looks to her peers for guidance. As a result of her sheltered upbringing, homeschooled by a constantly changing roster of teachers, she doesn't have much experience when it comes to interacting with people her own age, especially the rowdier crowds that large MMORPGs like Bluefire tend to attract. The main exceptions to this rule are her older brother Antoine, with whom she shares a very close and special bond, and her fiercely loyal animal familiar Heljä, who often helps her voice her ideas and speak up for herself.

Once she overcomes her shyness, however, Chloé is a bright and spirited girl with an endless appetite for life and new experiences. She is surprisingly much tougher than she looks, having suffered a considerable amount of emotional and physical pain due to the complicated and highly invasive medical procedures she underwent over the years. She is also very protective of her loved ones. Chloé has a particular gift for noticing small details that others might miss, honed by years of indoor confinement due to her delicate health, which often comes in handy for solving puzzles or finding rare items. Although she's frightened by The Profusion and its implications for her and the other beta testers, a small selfish part of her isn't quite ready to log out of Bluefire just yet, as doing so would mean having to return to the painful reality of her life outside the game.

[spoiler=Biography]Chloé joined Bluefire at the behest of her older brother Antoine, a big-shot gamer known as one of Canada's very best. His reasoning was that if Chloé couldn't visit the outside world because of her health problems, then the virtual world would come to her, so to speak. Using his personal fame, wealth, and connections, Antoine was able to secure two spots for them in the open beta testing. He immediately selected the "PALADIN" Subclass, knowing from experience that it would fit his playstyle the best and allow him to protect his little sister, "Princess Chloé," from the game's many dangers. As for the princess herself, she eventually chose the "BEAST MASTER" Subclass for sentimental reasons rather than any particular strategic advantage, as she had always wanted to befriend animals as a child, and even now, still sheltered dreams of becoming a zoologist. Under her brother's tutelage and watchful eye, Chloé successfully completed many quests without too much difficulty, even managing to tame Heljä, a massive, sentient female polar bear. For a time, Bluefire seemed to be exactly what Antoine had promised—an opportunity for the two of them to explore the world, together.

The Profusion struck not long after, unleashing a wave of utter chaos across the world as players became aware that their lives were in danger. Realizing that the time had come for the pair to go home, Antoine set off with several of his guild mates in order to find a way out, leaving Chloé in relative safety in the Haven of Adrale. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and still... no word from her brother. Fearing that something terrible might have happened to him, Chloé and Heljä set out, trying to pick up his trail. Along the way, they heard mention of a newly-formed guild, Ithaca, whose raison d'être was summed up in one word: escape. Realizing that there is strength in numbers, Chloé, now going by her birth name, decided to join in the hopes of meeting someone able to help her find her missing brother.

Sub-Class: Beast Master

Level: 30

[spoiler=Inventory]Raiment of the Frost PrincessAn elegant silver ensemble woven from silk and lined with white fur, with matching gloves, boots, and stockings. Protects the wearer from weather-related hazards, reduces Frost Damage by 40%, and grants "Snow Fairy's Step," the ability to cross over snow and ice with little difficulty.

Tamer's Necklace: An enchanted charm to be worn by Beast Tamers, it reduces the cost of Contract Skills by 20% and increases the wearer's mana recovery rate by 30%.

Tamer's Ribbon: Chloé's hair ribbon is more than just a stylish accessory—it's her main weapon and conduit for channeling magic, replacing the more traditional whip favored by most Beast Masters. While the physical damage inflicted using this weapon is reduced by a hefty 80%, it boosts the user's mana pool by 30%. The ribbon's unassuming nature also makes it much more likely to get overlooked by enemies.

[spoiler=Skills]Passive Skills:

Beast Whisperer

"Animals say the most incredible things, don't they?"

+ The player is able to speak the language of animals, allowing her to gather useful information and communicate with all manner of beasts.

+ This ability does not inherently influence the behavior of said animals: i.e., if they are currently hostile to the player, they are likely to stay that way. However, the more points the player invests into this skill, the more persuasive she will become.

Active Skills:

Beast Taming

"Whether thy be feathered, furred, or scaled, thy will is mine."

- Cost: 10% Max Mana

+ Transforms a Level 20 or lower animal into an ally for 30 seconds.

Master's Sacrifice

- Cost: Summoned Contract

+ The player dismisses a Summoned Contract Beast and restores HP equal to that Contract Beast's remaining HP. The dismissed Contract Beast cannot be summoned again for an hour.

Contract Summoning: Heljä

"Friend, lend me your strength!"

- Initial Cost: 25% Max Mana

- Maintenance Cost: 5% Max Mana for every 3 minutes Heljä remains invoked

+ Summons Heljä, a Glacial Ice Bear

Winter's Breath

"Time for you to chill out!"

- Cost: 20% Max Mana

- Can only be used while a Contract Beast is invoked

+ The targeted Contract Beast expels subzero breath for 10 seconds, dealing Frost Damage and slowing the enemy's movement. Any enemies caught within the attack for 5 seconds or more are "Frozen" and rendered immobile for 10 seconds. Applies "Brittle" to any targets frozen solid, multiplying any melee damage they take by 50% until they are unfrozen.

Frost Armor

"Together, we're unstoppable!"

- Cost: 30% Max Mana

- Can only be used while a Contract Beast is invoked

+ The targeted Contract Beast gains magical ice armor, increasing melee damage by 40% and reducing magic damage by 10%. Any enemy that inflicts melee damage has a 10% chance of being "Frozen" for 2 seconds. Any enemy that inflicts ranged damage has a 10% chance of being "Chilled" for 5 seconds, increasing the recharge rate of all currently used skills by 40%.

x393wz.jpg

Name: Chloé Marie Després

Gender: Female

Age: 16

[spoiler=Biography]Born into a wealthy French-Canadian family in Montréal, Québec, Chloé was diagnosed at an early age with an extremely rare degenerative muscular disease. By the time she was eight years old, the muscles in her legs had broken down completely, leaving her effectively paralyzed from the waist-down and confined to her bed for the rest of her life. Despite this, Chloé remained positive, claiming that she could still accomplish her dreams with rehabilitation therapy and crutches. Over the next few years, her parents hired several expert medical teams in an attempt to reverse the illness, to no avail. The experts offered a grim prognosis, predicting that the disease would eventually spread through the rest of her body, shutting down most of her muscular systems until she was completely paralyzed. Chloé's only comfort was her older brother Antoine, who visited her regularly and did his best to bring the outside world to the sick girl, promising to take her one day to see the northern lights. When he offered her the chance to walk again in Bluefire's virtual reality world, she leaped at the opportunity. Figuratively speaking, of course. Now that Antoine has gone missing, however, Chloé feels she is being punished for her selfishness and wishes only for her brother to return.

[spoiler=Trivia]• As a result of her French-Canadian upbringing, Chloé speaks fluent English and French.

• She is also extremely well-read and musically gifted for her young age, having had little else to occupy her time over the last few years.

• Chloé's Theme: "Kairi III" - Kingdom Hearts

• Heljä's Theme: "Heart of Thorns" - Guild Wars 2

[spoiler=UrHoleHell, A Noob's Nightmare in Sentient Form (WIP)]

zWMoaTF.png

"What I find out here in this god forsaken world is mine. Get your own damn loot."

Personal Information
Name: UrHoleHell

Gender: Female

Race: Goblin

Age of Appearance: Late Teens/Early 20's

[spoiler=Appearance:]Goblins are the shortest race in the entire game, even being out-heightened by the average Dwarf of all beings. So it's not surprising to see any Bluefire character, NPC or otherwise, tower over UrHoleHell's avatar. After all, she only stands at 127cm (4' 2") in height and, unlike the typical dwarven avatar which would have bulk to make up for their shortness, only looks to weigh in at 35kg (77lbs) at the very most. The curvature to her body is there, but not at an outlandish degree; assuming it can be measured in inches and centimeters, the BWH ratio would prove to be 20-15-18 and 51-38-46 respectively. UrHoleHell's avatar can be distinguished from a more typical goblin through her blood red skin tone as opposed to the usual green, ocean blue hair, cobalt eyes and a series of four red dots on her forehead. She also wears a ghost-white Korean jeogori, which would look very similar to the Japanese kimono if not for the uniquely styled hood that appears to come with it.

eb13e7bf71d52a40f53fad3628d5a9519a7686c9

[spoiler=Personality:]She may have picked the one most despicable races in all of Bluefire from a mythos standpoint, but UrHoleHell just does not care. She's extremely unapologetic about the actions she ultimately takes. She has quite the level of sarcasm to her as well, and she's not afraid to say what she thinks about a person right to their faces, regardless of what kind of light she'd put them at. Of course, this gets her in life with no friends in the slightest, but she doesn't really care all that much. After all UrHoleHell has never been much of a people person, isn't here to make friends to begin with. She's just here to play the game, and she's not gonna let any one person ruin the experience for her. And if she receives any flak at all, then she'll either dish it right back out in style, or she'll just ignore it completely and stay in the zone.

This may lead to the suggestion that UrHoleHell is more of a lone wolf type of character. However, although no-one would be wrong for assuming such and she won't deny that that falls in line with her personal preferences, UrHoleHell has proven time and again that she can actually perform somewhat decently in a team. She typically does her own thing and leaves her teammates to sort themselves out, however... and considering she's not the communicative type, this works out way more often than it should. A lot of this has to do with UrHoleHell's sheer mechanical skills, which are easily on par with any professional gamer, and the worst type of opponent one can face online is someone with her mechanical talent playing to their utmost aggression. This alone allows UrHoleHell to pull her own weight, if not carry the entire team on her back. While her PvP capabilities are a valued asset in an MMORPG setting for defending a team against rogue PKer's, the problem comes when splitting any loot that team finds. UrHoleHell is very possessive of any loot that she picks up; even if a specific item is almost useless to her and much better suited to a specific teammate, she won't relinquish it easily. She'll often set a questionably high trade-off for it, and she'll never back down from said trade-off. Players often wind up dueling UrHoleHell for the item they want from her instead but, while this a lot of immediate hassle, it presents a completely different issue in trying to down such a mechanically talented foe.

It's amazing to see how few things actually faze UrHoleHell at all. Sure, she has her pet peeves like everyone else, but they don't seem able to alter her temperament at all like they would any other person that would have to deal with that very same situation. UrHoleHell's levelheadedness can prove to be unreal at times, and she combats any and all setbacks she comes across with sheer willpower and stubbornness. This latter quality is fickle in that it can be both a good and a bad thing. Great for persevering against a difficult challenge, not so hot for making friends with other players or establishing alliances.

In any case, UrHoleHell has no quelms with lending her talent to any given guild... so long as she gets to do things her way.

[spoiler=Sample Skills:][spoiler=Windwalk:]Allows the caster to turn invisible for a short period of time, allowing him or her to remain unseen regardless of where they go or what direction the enemy is facing. This skill is a staple for assassins, as it not only allows for a quick escape in emergencies, but it's also a quick and easy means to proc unseen damage bonuses when beginning a fight against an enemy. Attacking or casting an Offensive Skill prematurely ends this Skill's effect. Skill Points invested in this Skill increase its duration. Skill Points invested in Shadow Flash also increase its duration, albeit by a lessened amount.

[spoiler=Disarm:]Gives the caster a chance to disarm an opposing player's weapon. If this is successful, that weapon drops to the ground and can be picked up by any player. Skill Points invested in this Skill increase its success rate. Skill Points invested in Seize Weapon also increase this skill's success rate, albeit by a lessened amount.

[spoiler=Seize Weapon:]<Requires at least 1 Skill Point in Disarm to learn>

Gives the caster a chance to steal an opposing player's equipped weapon and add it to his or her inventory, at a moderate Thieving Penalty. If it fails, then the opposing player is either disarmed or unaffected. Skill Points in this Skill decrease the Thieving Penalty, which may even be nullified upon heavy investment. Skill Points invested in Disarm increase the likelihood of disarmament should the steal attempt fail.

[spoiler=Shadow Flash:]<Can only target enemies if they have their backs to the caster>

<Cannot be cast if seen by an enemy>

Instantly transports the caster behind targeted cover or straight at an enemy's back, inflicting heavy initial damage in the case of the latter as well as always procing unseen damage bonuses. Has a limited range, making large leaps questionable at best and impractical at worst. Skill Points invested in this Skill increase damage dealt. Skill Points invested in Windwalk increase this Skill's range.

[spoiler=Poison Tip:]Allows all attacks and Offensive Assassin Skills to inflict poison damage onto an enemy over a set period of time. The total amount of poison damage sustained by the enemy is dependent on the damage inflicted by an attack or a casted Offensive Skill at its base. Skill Points invested in this Skill increase the total poison damage.

[spoiler=Fan of Knives:]<Requires an equipped Dagger or Throwing Knife to cast>

Allows the caster to spray a multitude of knives in all directions, inflicting moderate damage to all enemies surrounding the caster. Skill Points invested in this Skill increase the damage dealt. Skill Points invested in Storm of Knives increase this Skill's range.

[spoiler=Storm of Knives:]<Requires at least 1 Skill Point in Fan of Knives to learn>

<Requires an equipped Dagger or Throwing Knife to cast>

Locks the caster in a spinning animation, spraying knives in all directions for a good length of time, and dealing moderate damage each time an enemy is hit. Skills Points invested in this Skill increase its range and the damage dealt. Skill Points invested in Fan of Knives increase this Skill's duration.

Real-World Identity:
Name: Mia Holland

Gender: Female

Age: 13[spoiler=Appearance:]Height: 145cm (4' 9")

Weight: 47kg (103lbs)

BWH Ratio: 16-15-15 (in)/41-38-38 (cm)

adaf352abbfae12d5c4d81ba45880f82fa80d691

[spoiler=Biography:]Mia Holland had been playing video games ever since she was 5 years old.

Main Theme Song: So What, by P!nk

Battle Theme Song: Doom (2016) OST: BFG Division

Ideal Voice Actresses: Chemari Leigh (En)/Yukari Tamura (Jp)

Tidbits of Trivia:

  • Both Mia and her mother Maisie were diagnosed with autism at childhood, albeit at opposing ends of the spectrum. Mia herself has been inflicted with severe autism as opposed to Maisie's mild, but they share a (unyielding in Mia's case) possessiveness of all items that they own, difficulties in adapting to changes in their routines, downright loathing being rushed out the door, a preference to minimize any and all social activities with others and a fear of crowds. Maisie is nowhere near as bad in this regard as Mia is, with the worst of it only coming to light if she takes on too much stress. On the other hand, Mia easily proves to be the more stubborn of the two, though this is likely due to being more heavily afflicted with her autism over any purposeful intention.
  • Mia is actually one of the first 5 people to have subscribed to a very certain online streamer, having valued his input and reviews for the various RPGs that were available right from the beginning of his career. It's debatable whether Mia was the streamer's 3rd, 4th or 5th subscriber, as two other people had subscribed at seemingly the exact same time. In any case, it was this input from the live streams that got Mia into gaming as a whole, and she now invests a heavy amount of her free time into this hobby. Unsurprisingly, this puts quite the strain on the relationship between Mia and Maisie.
  • During her experiences playing MOBA's and RPG's, Mia has proven to excel with the use of full DPS-orientated characters and builds. She will almost always prioritize such characters over anything else, assuming she has the chance for an early pick. She has shown a little flexibility in that she does relatively OK with tanks and will begrudgingly accept them if her favorite picks get sniped or if the others decide to neglect a tank for themselves, but she will absolutely refuse to play support under any circumstances. If she gets last pick and is expected to play support, she will probably just play one of her favorite DPS's anyway just to spite her so-called 'teammates', and if that causes her team to lose, then they should've thought of that before they left the support up to her.

You can probably relax a little with the depth you go on your inventory. By putting parameters on things like the damage your weapons do you are really limiting yourself and doing unnecessary work. Remember: This is a text-based RP. There is a healthy balance between the numbers and the writing and you don't want to over-inundate your character with too many arbitrary numbers that when we get down to it aren't going to make much of a difference. Also, all of your items seem to do a lot. Like a lot. Consider scaling back.

Hyde and I had a difficult time deciding who to accept. I didn't expect to get this kind of response when I posted the interest check for this RP, so thank you for that, I really do appreciate it. I had intended to keep the cast small, I really did only want to accept 5 applicants. However, because you all pulled out all the stops with your apps I was forced to rethink my plans. So, I will not be accepting 5 players. Nor, will I be accepting 6. I felt I had to bring 7 of you into the fold. Please know I was thoroughly impressed by all of you, truly I've never had so many applicants put forth so many amazing apps. So, without further ado:

[spoiler=The Members of Ithaca]

Cass // ~Renegade~

Reebus // Mr. Hyde

Girasol // Rinne

Chloé // Saiba Aisu

Boom // Dad

Melethil // Yui

Stacks4Daze // VCR_CAT

Lichiethro // Reptilious

Do'jhera // Chaos Sonic

Congratulations! The IC should be up momentarily

  • 1 month later...

So as a heads up, I'm finishing moving into my new place tomorrow and likely won't have internet for a few days. I'll have Skype and can chat with people over data, but posting won't happen until I can get hooked up. If y'all want to puppet Girasol, as long as you keep her in character I'm cool. Just run ideas by me first. :)

Will keep you posted!
