STORY

STORY

 

[align=center]A blue speck shot across the night sky as Prof. Wood watched. It was followed by a pink speck. These specks danced, then began to enlarge. Dialga and Palkia began to take form as they drew closer.

"Blimey!" Prof. Wood exclaimed. "Never thought I'd see 'em, I did." He was fascinated by the bright outlines of Dialga and Palkia, quite visible in the night sky, trying to settle an old rivalry. It was not often they fought, but when they did, the entire universe was affected.

 

Prof. Wood's satisfied smile faded as he felt the earth shake violently. Microscopes fell off shelves in his small laboratory in Torq Town, which was in the south-west portion of the Sanyama region. Prof. Wood left his laboratory and entered the Pokemon Center. On the bottom floor was the earthquake shelter. Earthquakes were frequent in Torq Town, so one had been built five years ago.

 

Prof. Wood was joined by every other person in the town, of which there weren't many. Only fifty people dwelt in Torq Town, and all of them but a few lived in the apartment building. Only five didn't. These people were Prof. Wood, his wife and his three children. They lived in the house above his lab.

 

Prof. Wood began conversing with some of the townsfolk gathered there. He also looked for Pokemon battles in the stadium that was incorporated into the earthquake shelter. You see, Prof. Wood was not only a very accomplished astronomer, but also a former Trainer. His love of battling never left him as he grew to 65 years young.[/align]

Biography:

Cathal Kaÿné Yddisac has had a notably catastrophic life. Struck with disaster after disaster, his hatred of life and society at large is understandable.

When he was born, a lightning rod just outside the hospital exploded, blowing up the ceiling. As it turned out, the firm that built the lightning rod knew about the problem, but decided it would be cheaper to leave it alone and defend against any charges pressed upon them. Cathal's father was killed by the explosion, but the family was unable to afford a lawyer and therefore unable to take the case to court.

As Cathal grew, he began to discover strange oddities impossible by others. For example, when he didn't want to be noticed, all he had to do was stand in the shadow of some object and he would be virtually invisible. This particular instance was handy, as he was one of the most popular targets for bullies in his school. Eventually, when he was nine, he determined that he could manipulate darkness. He began to use his powers extensively, hoping to increase in skill.

Unfortunately, on August 19 of his sixteenth year of life, the sun was so bright, there were no shadows for him to hide in when a group of bullies ambushed him by the town well. They threw him in. Upon leaving, Cathal felt somehow disconnected from the darkness he had made such good friends with. He came to the conclusion that he had lost his powers. To make up for it, he decided to tame beings that couldn't lose their powers — Pokémon. As his town had no Pokémon lab, he had to steal two Pokéballs from the town store (his family was still very poor). His stealth was still impressive, and he carried out the heist with no interruptions. He was incredulous when he was able to catch two Pokémon without laying a finger on them: they practically walked into the ball. Now, his bonds with Ralts and Eevee are as strong as his quondam bond with darkness.

Cathal is distrusting and pessimistic. Though he wants the best for everyone, he doesn't think that anyone except his Pokémon want the best for him. His lifetime experiences have told him that there are very few people in the world that aren't corrupt.

Aleïa wasn't an ordinary Ralts during her life in the forest. Her powers far exceeded those of her kin, and occasionally even surprised her. However, such power was difficult to control, and when she caused an accident with an uncontrolled psychic burst, she was exiled from her group. Unhappy, she stalked away through the forest, seeking one of the "trainers" she had heard myths of. She was so intent on finding one that she didn't know she had found one until she walked straight into a PokéBall. She simply allowed herself to be captured, desperate to find someone to call a friend. Now, she seeks revenge on the wild Pokémon that were so unappreciative of her unique gifts, and to help as many Pokémon into the hands of good trainers such as her own as possible.

The forest is not a good place for such a weak Pokémon as an Eevee to grow up. Unfortunately, Zetsumei had no choice. Abandoned by his parents soon after birth, Zetsumei had to live life in constant fear of attack by the various predatorial Pokémon that inhabited the woods, such as Scythers and Beedrills. Eventually, he found a relatively safe hole where he could make a home for himself. Unfortunately, there was no good food nearby, so Zetsumei had to seek it. He quickly found an excellent berry bush near a clan of Ralts. Zetsumei entertained himself by watching the Ralts train, noting how one so exceeded the others in power. One day, while eating and watching (noting the absence of the superpowered Ralts), he found a huge red-and-white berry. When he tried to eat it, though, he was sucked inside. Quickly finding himself captured, he met up with the powerful Ralts — Aleïa — again. The trio quickly bonded into a group of good friends.
