(GigaDrillBreaker)
Basically what it says in the title. I was reading the new rules (great stuff there, by the way, I appreciate the concrete definitions given) and after getting through the bit about warning point increases in lieu of verbal warnings, I thought this could be a boon to the forum. Put simply, when a user receives warning points for a post, the moderator who gave them just edits on a simple "USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST" on the end. It is something I have seen on other forums in the past, and I believe it will help to demonstrate to observers that 1.) people do indeed receive punishment for breaking the rules, and 2.) it should help to act as a reminder that "THIS IS NOT OKAY". The only real concerns I can see with it would be users editing out the notice (which... what the funk why..?) or the potential for it to spark shaming, but honestly I am pretty sure nobody cares quite enough for the latter to be a concern. Blake
It happens here sometimes ,but it also comes with a sense of publicly shaming in addition to punishment. Very neutral on this.
Dad
With the warning system still being broken, I know some of us have been pming members when they're warned. That being said, I'm iffy on this. With the way YCM behaves, this might lead to lynchmobbing. That being said, I do think it could be productive, but not as is. ~~~~
I don't think the YCM community is so goodie-two-shoes that we would shame someone who had broken the rules. Still, I'm not sure how I feel about this because I am currently too tired to think about.
Simping For Hina
Can't support this. Honestly feel like it is this seen:
Ryusei the Morning Star
It would give transparency so more people don't make the "same mistake" If shaming happens, warn them too
Maeriberii Haan
Primary issue I have here is the potential of further derailing topics (I am always on the support of hiding/deleting posts with punishments done on the back to keep discussions pristine, but the community doesn't trust the moderator team enough for it), but well, it's more of an issue with the mentality of the users themselves, something that can be done with further verbal warnings and infractions. Honestly, an actual feeling of shame in my opinion is a far more effective as a punishment than the lower tier of warns (4 or less). So yeah support. (GigaDrillBreaker)
I honestly can't imagine any harmful amount of shaming to come of this. If they derail the thread for it, that's just more warnings to dole out. If you honestly think a notice that someone got warned would cause the forum to go after them, you have even less faith in the community than myself, and that says a damn lot. And in many cases, since warning points wouldn't so much be given out for accidents like violating advanced clause or some sheet, isn't a public acknowledgment productive as additional punishment? Not to mention that it helps to further define the line of "what kinds of posts are okay". Thinking on it more, arguably the biggest issue is that it can show when posts that didn't deserve a warn received them, or vice versa, but I can assume these decisions aren't made so arbitrarily that it would be any real problem.
