Simping For Hina
Cortouche of Solidarity is fun GW Hexproof tech.
(GigaDrillBreaker)
Nest of Scarabs feels like a seed for the next block. Based on Kruphix's insight, we will be revisiting the threat of New Phyrexia next, so infect (or more likely wither) as well as any other -1/-1 counter-based mechanics will support this very well. Plus crocodile of the crossing hints at it for a draft theme. Also Hazoret is sweet. Motivates vampires to run a slightly higher curve. I really thought I was done with them when looter scooter was banned, but here we are. Not sure how much good it can do without Drana.
evilfusion
Ah, so the Aftermath cards are indeed a thing. And as I thought, some of them might be dual-colored. I really like Cartouche of Solidarity, and I think Trial of Knowledge is the type of card I'd personally love using.
(GigaDrillBreaker)
The cartouche and trial seem to imply that there will be a reasonable amount of enchantment synergies in the block, as well as using global enchantments in ways beyond their typical scope. I'm a big fan of this, from a design perspective, and the brewer in me already has gears turning with copycat (felidar can blink enchantments!). Delibirb
So, the Gods of Amonkhet are always considered creatures; this makes sense, given they interact directly with the mortals, as the Egyptian Gods were said to, while the Theros/Greek pantheon meddled occasionally and usually in subtleties. They simply require you to "follow their path," as it were, in order to use them in combat. Very nice. Hazoret herself seems a bit underwhelming to me, but then again I don't like Red in general. The Trial/Cartouche interactions look fun, I hope they become at least vaguely prevalent in standard. I'm also glad I correctly predicted that death would be a largely white trait here, while black seems more geared towards pain and, of course, ambition. That's actually awesome. They only help you if you abide by their philosophy. As for Hazoret, I'm just gonna drop a casual reminder that madness sticks around till fall. Flame Dragon
Sad we don't have curses. They seemed like an obvious inclusion, especially given that the plane itself is cursed. The Red god seems REALLY strong. In the right deck she is just a 5/4 haste that keeps swinging in that also enables madness and gives you a little extra reach. She just sucks in commander and I was hoping she'd be a cool commander. Can't wait to see how the other gods become real. Of the other cards the more interesting ones for me are the croc and the nest.
