Sunshine Jesse
Dragon Rulers is my guilty pleasure format. It pretty much encapsulated all of my favorite things about YGO. I loved the crazy plays, big monsters, broken cards, and the deceptively skillful mirror, and the Rulers themselves made excellent card choices for undermeta decks if I just wanted to have silly fun and not take the game too seriously. It was hard to say it was 'good' in any objective sense, especially from the perspective of a casual who thinks dozens of potential meta decks equates to a good format, but it had everything I like about the game at once. It happened around 2013 and had a variety of banlists that did nothing to weaken the deck until they were all limited at once.
Delibirb
Evilswarm format. I remember going to my first regional, no idea what a meta even was much less what was contained within it at the time, sit down round 1, staring down an Ophion, being told for the first time that it doesn't let me Special Summon level 5 or higher. I'll never forget my opponent's words to the person sitting next to him (who was presumably someone he knew). "Dude, Relinquished gets around Ophion!" I didn't win that regional, but I beat every Evilswarm deck I faced.
