Atypical-Abbie Posted February 27, 2017 Report Share Posted February 27, 2017 So here are some minor updates to some texts for old Dinosaur cards that are being reprinted, I didn't translate these, credit goes to the Org for that. Ultimate Tyranno(1) During your Battle Phase, if “Ultimate Tyranno” can attack, monsters other than “Ultimate Tyranno” cannot attack.(2) This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each.(1) means that Ultimate Tyranno must be the first to attack.(2) adds “can”, preventing toxic infinite attack loop issues this card has had in the past, as demonstrated by this card’s use in the GX animated series where it got caught in an infinite attack loop against “Rescueroid”, “Ambulanceroid”, “Decoyroid” and “Cyber Summon Blaster”.Specifically it means you can choose to attack multiple monsters, but you are not required to.Gilasaurus(1) You can Special Summon this card (from your hand)(2) If this card is Special Summoned by its (1) effect: Activate this effect; your opponent can Special Summon 1 monster from their Graveyard.Specifically what happened here is Gilasaurus is an If mandatory, but it no longer makes your opponent target. Your opponent can still choose to or not to Summon a monster of their own free will and violation.Big Evolution PillTribute 1 Dinosaur-Type monster you control to activate this card. After this card is activated, it remains on the field, and is destroyed during the End Phase of your opponent’s 3rd turn, counting by your opponent’s turn.(1) If this card is present in a Spell & Trap Zone, you can Normal Summon Level 5 or higher Dinosaur-Type monsters without a Tribute.The major clarification with this text is telling you how to count when it’s destroyed.Swords of Concealing LightAfter this card activated, destroy it during your 2nd Standby Phase.(1) As the effect resolves when this card is activated, if there are face-up monsters on your opponent’s field, change all of those monsters to face-down Defense Position.(2) While this card remains in your Spell & Trap Card Zone, monsters on the opponent’s field cannot change their Battle Positions.Basically this new text plus rulings in Japan force a reversal to the ruling issued at World Championship 2016 last year, as regardless of when a monster appeared, it gets turned face-down for Swords.Fossil Excavation(1) Discard 1 card, then target 1 Dinosaur-Type monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that Dinosaur-Type monster.(2) While this card is remains present in a Spell & Trap Zone, the monster Special Summoned by this card’s (1) effect has its effects negated, and is destroyed if this card leaves the field. When that monster is destroyed, destroy this card.This one basically implies if by some freak of nature Konami printed say Eternal Reverse, and let you Set Fossil Excavation again, the monster Special Summon by Excavation would regain its effects. ~~~~ Posted February 27, 2017 Report Share Posted February 27, 2017 My reactions Ultimate TyrannoI personally don't like this one. If possible, I prefer for anime cards to be able to have the same interactions in the real game. GilasaurusAgain, not too much of a fan. Making it non-targeting only makes it less powerful, since you can't just DD Crow whatever they would summon. Making an already weak and unused card less powerful for seemingly no reason is not something I like. Big Evolution PillAwesome! I love it when they make card text clearer and easier to understand and interpret. Swords of Concealing LightWow. This card kinda receives a significant buff with this errata. I remember that it was one of the major differences between this card and Book of Eclipse. Maybe now that this gap has been closed, this card will see more use (after Drident stops being relevant ofc) Fossil Excavationwho tf cares Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Master Hyperion Posted February 27, 2017 Report Share Posted February 27, 2017 "Hey Konami employee, since the introduction of the Link mechanic, people have been wondering if you can lock the Extra Monster Zone with Ground Collapse or Ojama King. Think we should clear it up a little, or even better, update the card text of those cards and other cards that involve the Monster Zone columns"."Nah, let's update Ultimate Tyranno, Gilasaurus, Big Evolution Pill and Fossil Excavation instead". Concealing Light has become absolutely fantastic though. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They can't make cards refer to the "main monster zone" or the "extra monster zone" before those terms have any official meaning. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The Highlander Posted February 27, 2017 Report Share Posted February 27, 2017 Ultimate tyrano got sort of nerfed with the first card text. Just like Upstart is a better pot of greed. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~~ Posted February 27, 2017 Report Share Posted February 27, 2017 Ultimate tyrano got sort of nerfed with the first card text.How? It got better because you don't have to attack all their monsters if you don't want to. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Mysty Posted February 27, 2017 Report Share Posted February 27, 2017 Ultimate Tyranno's wording is confusing for its functionality. I'm assuming that it's supposed to just make it attack first, but it reads like only "Ultimate Tyrannos" can attack that turn. Also, it sounds like that, if you don't want it to attack all of the opponent's monsters (for reason listed above), then your other monsters won't be able to attack that turn.Gilasaurus's wording is fine.Is "If this card is present in a Spell & Trap Card Zone" and similar phrases in the last three cards an OCG-only thing? The new wording on SoCL suggests that it will only flip monsters face-down right after resolution. Was that not always the case? Was 2016 ruled differently? Will it be ruled differently after this wording is released?I can appreciate Konami preparing wording for situations that don't exist yet are plausible.
