Original Vs Cover 1: Sound of Silence

So Draconus gave me this idea with one of his statuses but basically this will be a semi-frequent series of Polls where we pick our preference between a song and one of its cover.

Most of the time I will be using covers from more famous bands/artists just because of how many covers from Youtubers and such there are but I might do those at some point as well.

If I don't choose a cover you like feel free to make your own version of this (use the OvC tag though if you do) with that cover instead but please don't complain in the thread.

 

Remember if you post please don't spam and please explain your choice

I'm a rocker at heart, I couldn't pass up the Disturbed cover. It starts slower to better serve the mood, and it hits harder in the high points to illustrate the contrast better. Truly the definition of a superior cover.

I dont consider myself to be a fan of the original but its way better than the Disturbed cover. Draiman's vocals sound whiny and angsty coupled with a cheesy over-emotional piano melody and ya know the point of the original was to be silent, hence the title. I wouldnt put the original on my iPod but it at least gets its job done.

Disturbed's version is one of the better covers I've ever heard, completely changing the delivery and making the song their own.

 

Simon and Garfunkel have always been a little limp-dick to me. :\

I think I'll probably wait a week or when this gets say...15 votes to put another one up. Will have to see.

 

Anyway I chose the cover because it just feels like a better way to show the message. The way they do it makes me really FEEL it.
