A Rank 1 Xyz Monster that can detach its materials and Rank Up depending on how many Xyz Monsters you have in your Extra Deck!!! Maybe it'll give more incentive to play Level 1 monsters. Who knows?

You can detach any number of Xyz Materials from this card; Special Summon 1 DARK Xyz Monster whose Rank is higher than this card up to the number of Xyz Materials detached by this effect using this card as an Xyz Material. (This Summon is treated as an Xyz Summon. Xyz Materials attached to this card becomes Xyz Materials on the Xyz Monster.) If you do: You cannot Special Summon other monsters this turn, except Level 1 monsters and Rank 1 Xyz Monsters. You can only use the effects of "Xyz Star Ranker Magician" once per turn.

There's a reason why Ptolomaeus was banned, and not because 'tellars and other R4 spam used it to bridge into Nova/Infinity or some other stuff.

 

Yeah, we can argue that Level 1s aren't as prolific as Level 3/4's in terms of presence (only thing they have is Ruri.dek [but they're limited in terms of members] and I suppose Kuribohs if they ever become a viable Deck that can keep field presence), but even then, what's to stop you from running a full 15-card ED (or least 11 of them Xyz anyway) and then making, say, Number 77 or some other high Rank Xyz that you shouldn't even have access to in the first place. Granted, your opponent will know what's coming afterwards and said Xyz Monster won't have any materials on it (for the most part), but still.

 

Level/Rank 1 needs some support, yes, but giving them this is not a good idea. As they are, Lyricals can probably make this card with the bare minimum, then go into whatever Xyz they want later.

It should be more bearable now. I would say one if its best Xyz to go for is Gorgonic Guardian, with Dark Mist and Alucard being second good & economic options; of course, using 4 materials give access to a wider pool, including relatively strong Xyzs such as Ophion, which can be too oppressive depending on the format, and Batlamyus, who in turn can become into Constellarknight Diamond for its lock effect.

Still, it's bound to become stronger, if not unfair, depending on what DARK Xyzs Konami releases in the future, so you will have to keep an eye on this card.

 

But, something I dislike is last effect. I can get behind a Rank1 that Ranks-Up on its own, as long as proper restrictions are given to it, but producing a 2-material Rank1 after doing so? Now that's pushing it, IMO.
