Smile Universe [ANIME]

Special Summon as many Pendulum Monsters from your Extra Deck as possible, but they are treated as Normal Monsters, also they have their effects negated (if any), then your opponent gains LP equal to the total ATK of the Summoned monsters. Neither player can Normal or Special Summon other monsters, and monsters cannot attack, during the turn this card is activated.

Um... So... Reading between the lines, this is a quick-play that stops your opponent from being able to summon or attack play yugioh during their turn while also netting you a bunch of monsters that can be used as Materials during your next turn.

Why would Majespecters use this? With their effects negated, they're just as easy to kill as anything else.

probs to be tributed for their S/T which far more annoying than the monsters

at very least its still allow you to set monster (whatever the worth is)

i do wonder about pendulum selection that can be tech in Nurse burn or any LP reversal gain deck just to go meme with this card

* THE EGAOOOOOOOOO!!!

* IT'S CONSUMING EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* Seriously, though...

* The fact that this can be used during your opponent's turn to lock them out of Summoning...

* ... along with netting you resources to you for YOUR next turn...

* ... seems a bit much.

* Not something one would expect from something

that's clearly a successor to "Smile World".

* Hopefully the real-life version of this card will be a bit more tame.

So....... how exactly was zarc summoned if it can't be summoned by other ways and the fact that this card doesn't say ignoring the summoning conditions on it?

I think Anime Zarc doesn't have the "can't be Summoned by other ways" thing.

But seriously, Anime Zarc has so much text that I can't remember what it does and doesn't say anymore.

Must be Special Summoned with "Astrograph Sorcerer", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways.

Like Neochu-H said, Zarc has that part. Howover, the natural cards took both Zarc's summoning condition and its monster effects to turn it into a Normal Monster (you can see that if you stop the episode at the right time). Presumably, that wasn't reset like it should have been when Zarc left the field and so Smile Universe was able to Summon Zarc.

The thing is, Zarc still has its summon condition. If you look when it is a vanilla, you can still see it has a line of text left after everything else is stripped. And like you said, effects should have been returned anyways, because the En cards only affect the field, the grave, and the banished zone, not the extra deck.

Basically, it's all plot bullshit and you really shouldn't take it seriously. This entire Zarc ordeal was really handled pretty poorly despite the entire build-up to it.

It's easy to miss, so I have put an image here to prove that. The only thing that is remaining in the monster effect box is its "Dragon/Pendulum" status. And yeah, it is really handled poorly, but I was just explaining what little logic the writers put in the episode.

Look harder, below the "Dragon/Pendulum", there's more text. It's a quarter line, followed by a few words, followed by a few more words. I highly doubt its flavor text otherwise the other 3 would have it as well.

There is something I missed though. There is a large gap followed by more text in the monster effect box. Its an additional 2 more quarter lines. which means there's more text there than I had originally thought.

That line is a line that is being consumed. You can see that as below the end of the "Dragon/Pendulum" line there is a part that is thinner than a normal line. Similarly, there is leftover text near the other sides of the monster box. Sadly, there is no image of Zarc after the 4 natural Spells have finished working, just when En Flowers is finishing.

Hey, this would be pretty good for Igknights, since they're Normal Monsters already, plus their ATK values can come in remarkably small numbers, especially the level 4 and 3 members. With their consistent level range, god knows what you can't summon afterwards, not to mention you can fuel basically any other Igknight support card, and still Pendulum Summon the next turn for more materials.

Seriously, am I the only person who thinks about this archetype, like ever?

I try not to think about Igknights because of how badly I have been betrayed by them.

They're the sort of archetype that would be broken if they simply had more members. If you could build a deck of just 40 igknights of the same Level... and that seeming possibility not being realised is why I have totally ignored them. You?

Ontopic: If this were released IRL, the clause about no summons or attacking would almost certainly apply only to the player who used the card. Its applying to both players is likely just artists/animators being lazy

Ok and super off topic, but the "Illegitimis" in your signature is a literal translation of bastards, meaning someone born out of wedlock, rather than the modern usage of the word.
