Ryusei the Morning Star
Don't push your luck twice. A detachment from reality tends to hurt Will now indisputably prove this viral picture spread by media is not the full crowd, and I use CNN as my sourceI zoomed to the back of CNN's interactive map, compared viral pic (same building), and to confirm, use the side tents as point of reference.http://www.cnn.com/i...tion-gigapixel/This shows the viral photo used by MSM is a hoax. Aerion Brightflame
But the figures that the white housespokes person gave only totalled up to about 700,000, nowhere near Obama's suspected 1.8 million in 2009.The emhpircal data on hand (Ticket sales and public transport) support this idea. That's after he claims it was impossible to know how many attended Obama's or that were protesting. Even if the specific example that the article is making is silly, that doesn't make the defence of him offering 'alternative facts'. The f*** does that even mean? Facts are emphirical, you don't need to offer 'alternative facts' to prove your point if it has factual backing. The story you tell with them can be iffy, but the facts themselves should be emphirical. Alternative facts is as bad as the 'fake news' moniker. EDIT: How is it anythng other than a detachment from reality to use 'alternative facts' as a defence for either being wrong, or trying to push a narrative opposed to reality. That's the point of the thread, the bullshit defence, not 'They lied about the Trump inaguration'

Ryusei the Morning Star
Donald Trump’s inauguration ratings were the 2nd-highest in 36 years, according to Nielsen. seen by 30.6 million viewers; 12 networks. Only ones to beat it were '09 Obama, and '80 Reagan Spicer was wrong to say it was the biggest, he should have said second biggest, or one of the largest. Happy wahr? That was a lightning bottle moment that cannot and will not ever be replicated. There wouldn't have been an issue if Spicer didn't say that it was the largest crowd ever, only to be supported by Kellyanne Conway for some ridiculous reason. Wahrheit
Look, just for the sake of accuracy: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/01/21/sean-spicer-held-a-press-conference-he-didnt-take-questions-or-tell-the-whole-truth/
Fusion X. Denver
Disturbing to contemplate. This, along with much else Spicer said, was plainly untrue. But there’s a strategy at work here. The Trump administration is creating a baseline expectation among its loyalists that they can’t trust anything said by the media. The spat over crowd size is a low-stakes, semi-comic dispute, but the groundwork is being laid for much more consequential debates over what is, and isn’t, true. Delegitimizing the institutions that might report inconvenient or damaging facts about the president is strategic for an administration that has made a slew of impossible promises and takes office amid a cloud of ethics concerns and potential scandals. It also gives the new administration a convenient scapegoat for their continued struggles with public opinion, and their potential future struggles with reality. This kind of “dishonesty from the media,” Spicer said, is making it hard “to bring our country together.” It’s not difficult to imagine the Trump administration disputing bad jobs numbers in the future, or claiming their Obamacare replacement covers everyone when it actually throws millions off insurance. Where any form of self-confidence is confused for arrogance and delusion. It's certainly a confusion that could be made more often than I'd like, but in this particular instance, it seems like she's implying "I'm better than you because I'm doing this." She was talking about "their relationship" and snapped at Chuck Todd for laughing. She kept pointing out the problems she had with his behavior, and then had to talk about how she's totally better for avoiding it.
