(2) Twice per turn, when this attacking card destroys a monster by battle: You can discard 1 Machine-Type monster; this card can immediately make one more attack in a row.

(3) If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effects: You can add 2 cards to your hand (1 “Polymerization” from your deck, and 1 “Ancient Gear” monster in your Graveyard, except this card).

It really looks more like a collector's item than anything else.

It has really cool art and sounds wonderful from an anime boss perspective that could realistically have appeared in GX.

 

However, the "Can't be Special Summoned" clause is as bad as it has ever been for a double Tribute monster, and this card's second attack per turn to me only has the discard cost justified if it had the AG clause of preventing effects during battle. Otherwise it shouldn't require any sort of discard for the double attack. It even minimizes the plus of being destroyed and giving you cards.

 

Which Poly only from the deck for something like this bothers me. Poly's searchability easily outpaces Ancient Gears' speed. If it grabbed Poly from the Graveyard it'd be more worth the recycling of a tech Poly in AG for the sake of Ultimate AG Golem. Not only is non-destruction removal not uncommon, but this card's floating ability can easily be dead if you lack that Poly, and I don't think running many Poly copies in this deck would do anything other than bad hands. On the other hand, the AG monster should be the one coming from the Deck as a searching option.

 

It would have been fun to have this card be treated as AG Golem itself for the sake of the Fusion and Fusion's effect.

 

I leave this comment without really knowing if the ARC V Fusions even exist IRL in a way that'd change this card's impact in the deck. Right now, I guess it is solid to get a double attacking 3000 ATK beater in a deck where Geartown can make it a single Tribute card. A little heavy, but I can see it being tried out.

There are actually two currently-OCG cards that make this absurdly easy to get out in Ancient Gears: Ancient Gear Howitzer and Ancient Gear Catapult. Both of these ignore Summoning conditions.

Heeeey, it's a new AG card!

 

... wow, this is awful and not at all what the deck wants.

 

I don't even run Poly in my build anymore; Hound is perfectly efficient. I guess theoretically you can use Box to fuel the multi attack, but if I've resolved a Box I probably have the mats to go into Chaos Giant. So why would I ever play this monster that has to be tribute summoned or called out via a waste of a Catappult?

 

Hard pass.
