I'm guessing that this would make Ajani the first multicolor 'walker among the Gatewatch now. Now, we're just missing colorless to be represented.

probably going to be a friendlly color oath cycle first, then maybe the enemy colors. and then maybe Ugin for the colorless?

Seems decent at best. Best case scenario, it facilitates the return of Oath of Nissa decks. Worst case scenario, it does nothing.

 

This card provides an effect that's alright early and an effect that's alright late for cheap, which makes it valuable -- but it doesn't do either thing exceptionally. A turn 3 Gideon is hard to beat, but it isn't impossible; otherwise, the GW decks that play Servant of the Conduit would have already cemented themselves as part of the metagame.

Karn is far more likely to join than Ugin. Ugin isn't a big fan of the gatewatch due to the whole Eldrazi killing.

 

Anyway, card is sweet. Anthem on one end and mana reduction on the other. GW planeswalkers can make a nice comeback with this. Though personal I'm excited to use this in my WGR commander deck.

 

Also, I love how Ajani has abs in this picture.

wasn't it said at one point that we would never go back to Karn's plane? seems unlikely that Wizards would just shoehorn Karn into another plane, imo. (though they did do that with Ajani, didn't they?)

Karn is from Dominaria, so it is very unlikely we won't go back to his plane. Unless you mean Mirrodin/New Phyrexia which doesn't have a super high chance of being revisited, but the odds aren't bad. We last saw Karn leave to fight various Phyrexian controlled planes so if we see them we'll likely see him at some point. Honestly, I'm pretty sure when asked "will x planeswalker return" Mark has said "I doubt we've seen the last of X" for almost, if not all, of them.

 

I saw someone bring that up on Mark's blog and my eyes lit up. Yea, I REALLY want to build that deck at some point. So many commander decks, such little time.
