Rare Fish
Attribute: WATER
Type: Fish/Fusion/Effect
Level: 4
ATK: 1500
DEF: 1200
"Fusionist" + "Enchanting Mermaid"

You may wonder why I'm posting this, and that's because I recently noticed that it was finally imported into TCG last month, which is great, and in fact I have been waiting for it for a while. Now, at first glance it may look like there is little to discuss as an apparently lackuster Instant Fusion target, with not even outstanding stats, BUT, it actually has a couple traits on its favor. First, with Norden Limited in TCG, it's an additional Instant Fusion target for Bahamut Shark plays, and that's important for decks relying on the extra Summon of WATERs through Instant Fusion and you don't want to spend your Norden when there isn't any target for it in the Graveyard yet.

Then, with 1500 ATK it's a Salvage target, contributing to making it live even if it would only mean that you recover a single monster. Granted, the latter is not as common but hey, it surely may come in handy if the deck revolves around Salvage. Finally, it's Fish for whatever the Level4 "Shark" monsters can do with it; Double Fin Shark and Xyz Remora can revive it, for example.

Oh, it also makes Enchanting Mermaid searchable by Fusion Conscript & Reserve, but yeah, that's not relevant at all.

So, discuss this vanilla Fusions that took a while to be imported, and that has a couple of advantages for a change.

I've seen this pop up in decklists where Bahamut Shark and Toadally Awesome are prevalent, and it does fit some nice qualifications without being Norden.
Ironically, this is a fairly difficult Fusion to get out properly, as it needs Fusionist, which itself is a LV3 Vanilla Fusion, and Enchanting Mermaid, a LV3 Normal.
Hell, Darkfire Dragon, another LV4 Vanilla Fusion, only needs 2 Normals, and it has 1500 ATK and 1250 DEF. Rare Fish is indeed rare, as the amount of resources needed to summon it the "proper" way is ludicrous.

Fish/Fusion/Effect

I feel that we've gotten so used to putting effect after the type that it becomes second nature/muscle memory even if a topic is on a vanilla.

Why this needs a Fusion monster as a material is beyond me.

Ikr, it feels so weird.

OT: Yeah, at the time (when it first came out), it didn't feel that it was gonna see play, but it's a card that has aged surprisingly well with its attribute and level.

Oh right. In my defense, I just copy/pasted the card description template xD

I will fix right away, thanks for pointing it out.

Ignore my 1st Statment.

Anywho, why not give us other semi-generic Xyz enablers with Instant Fusion.. Like a Level 4 Beast-Warrior Fusion for easy Tiger Kings, or a Level 4 Dinosaur Fusion for easy Dolkka's and Laggia's. I can come to terms with this game having more lost standards. :P

I already find it silly that the game has gotten to the point where if you have at least 1 monster with a certain Attribute in your hand and/ or Grave, and Instant Fusion... You can stun 'n steal with a 2600 body and an additional 2200 body that can recover "lost" advantage (basically a plus in most cases).

This thing is actually around $15-20 now since its recent release in the OTS Pack 3. Pretty much of a hard catch if you know what I mean.

Norden is obviously better, but in the OCG where the old man got banned, they could have had the potential to make Treatoad variants even with the one summon, but HEROes were axed there, and Dinomists and Lightsworns weren't that popular.
