In case WP is too liberal for your tastes:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/12/05/how-internet-conspiracy-theory-led-gunman-into-dc-pizza-parlor.html

What basically happened is that a man armed himself and drove for several hours to a pizzeria in an attempt to "investigate" any evidence that would prove "pizzagate", a conspiracy theory that claims that the pizzeria was a front for child trafficking courtesy of Hillary Clinton and her affiliates. Luckily no one was hurt and the suspect was arrested.

Well I guess this really proves that you really should be careful of what you see on the internet.

Kinda feel sorry for both the guy and the pizzeria. Like I mean of course I feel bad for the pizzeria cause of what the people in there had to go through but I also feel bad for the guy who wanted to play hero but was actually being a dumbass and now his life is completely fucked. I dunno maybe im just being too sympathetic.

It's okay to have sympathy for dumbasses.  We all have our dumbass moments, some just have really bad consequences.

How does Pizzagate get this much traction in the first place anyway?

Wikileaks?

Also the guy said he had a basement once, and then took it it back

Spiritcooking is horrifying sheet

Also numerous HRC allies have been arrested for pedophilia...and the owner of the pizzashop is the gay lover of HRC's main hatchet man

Pizzagate is probs true

The internet, especially Conspiracy theory media such ad Red Ice and Infowars/PrisonPlanet. Any rumors that would incriminate Hillary Clinton and her associates have these guys drooling to cover them. Forums like The_Donald subedit discuss this extensively.

Because, similar to the countless (likely untrue) allegations against Trump, people make efforts to discredit those they are opposed to. Objective thinking goes right out the window, because in matters of politics, nothing is really objective at all. It is fairly easily to make a set of data "support" whatever the hell you like, provided you present it right and are preaching to the correct audience.

I mean trump can't decide whether he has the world's greatest memory, so I am not sure what weight this carries.

Like... How the f*** did this guy expect this to go? There is no conceivable way he was just gonna walk in there with a f***ing assault rifle and NOT get arrested.

The police managed to arrest him quickly because they were patrolling the area due to the pizzeria getting a bunch of death threats. I think he already knew he was going to get arrested, but perhaps he didn't care because in his mind he would be hailed a hero.

WP is too right wing for my tastes.

Anyway, has anyone considered that this guy might have been sent to discredit the conspiracy theorists?  :Kappa:

Interesting that you say that, once he was arrested he was "convinced" that there was no malicious activity going on there. Misinformation is more dangerous than people think, especially if you doubt something but still want it to be true and believe it anyway because it aligns with your views.
