Eligible members of YCM.  Did you vote today?  Why or why not?  If you, feel free to share some pictures of yourself after voting with your "I Voted" stickers.

If you didn't vote, and you care to share why you elected not to vote, please do so.  If you'd like to share who you voted for, you may.  If not, you may keep it to yourself as you are not obligated to share your voting preference.  If this is your first time voting, how do you feel about it?  Did you review each decision carefully and know who you were voting for, and why?  How did you feel about certain amendment revisions?

If a proper election was held on YCM, what would you like to see an election for and why?

Let's talk about your rights, YCMembers.

I voted, primarily under peer pressure because I'm on college campus too much to not hear the people preaching on the side of the road to vote/sign up.

I thought I might as well give it a shot, and luckily I live in an absurdly small town and voting was in and out in 5 minutes or less.

I voted pretty much based on party; if I thought I'd like a democrat in place X more, I voted for them, and same with Republican. I left whatever jobs I didn't know about or were unaffiliated blank.

I'll share my president vote when this sheet passes. Should be an easy guess for anyone who has heard me talk politics, even when names aren't mentioned, but you guys probably haven't heard me, haha.

George Soros?

Anyway hopefully things go as cleanly as possible.

:^)

Seriously, though, I agree. Regardless of who wins, there's potential here for cries of fraud, riots, and other general badness. Hopefully, America can manage to hold together enough to not literally start killing each other over this. Hell, maybe if we're REALLY lucky, people will accept the result quickly and move on so we can stop having to hear about Clinton and Trump all the time.

I voted first thing this morning. The stakes are too high this election, but it's always crucial to vote.

This is my second time voting, but I'm a lot less enthused this time around and I'm much more nervous. I hope in 4 or 8 years, we get candidates that'll generate excitement like the '08 election did.

I'm gonna have some booze to cope with the results.

I did mail-in balloting as opposed to actually going to the polls, but yeah I did vote. Basically because I'm not really sure where the election is, and I hate long lines.

To be fair, this was my first time voting for the president; I would've voted in 2012 had I been ten days older (yeah, I was still 17 at the time Obama was up for re-election and too young to vote b/c of that). The drawbacks of a late birthday (it's next Tuesday if you guys want to know). If I could've voted at the time, I would've gone Obama.

Going back to this election, I didn't really feel inspired to vote for the next president, given both of the main candidates have their own amount of controversies and I barely know who the other three were (Stein, Johnson and whoever the independent was). I will mention that I DIDN'T vote Trump; as I've said earlier, I can't bring myself to trust him with political power, given his behavior thus far, even though he does raise a point about certain topics.

Also had to vote for a new state representative (I don't know if other states besides Hawai'i mentioned the loss of Mark Takai on our end, but we need to replace him and get a successor for the next couple of years), OHA (Office of Hawaiian Affairs, even though I'm not Hawaiian), district representative and some county amendments. I had to ask parents about the amendments to some extent before voting, because I didn't know some of them.

Oh right, and vote for Honolulu mayor (either Caldwell stays in for four more years, or we get the Republican Charles Djou).

-----

In any case, hopefully people do accept the results and we can move on from hearing about "what did Clinton/Trump do this time".

Hawai'i voted for Clinton (well, at least +60% of the population did, but we're a traditionally blue state, so shouldn't be too much of a surprise where our vote went off to). Out of fairness, neither of the candidates campaigned here, but likely due to distance (recall that there's +2,200 miles of ocean to cross from the West Coast to here) and the fact our votes usually doesn't matter much (we have only 4 electoral votes at stake, and yeah we vote later than most of you because of timezone).

Only other thing of note is that with the state senate elections (on my end), we have the only Senate that's purely of one party (in this case, Democrat). Until today, we had one lone Republican senator, but now we don't (wasn't in my district though). House of Representatives still has some red left.

As for the election as a whole and Trump being president, while it'll take some time to get used to the idea of him in office, I'll be willing to give him a chance if he retains the attitude he showed during his speech earlier, and actually does have our (the USA's) best interests in mind.
