"misconception"

It's about perception giga, idk how you don't get it

He's showing you select positive outlooks and then generalizing it for everyone. That's not true. Since the start of Obama's second term things have NOT gotten better in the whole. We're suffering one of the smallest growths since the great and 08 depressions. Our military spending may be high, but it's all going into pockets of subcontractors, our MILITARY itself isn't getting the bang for the buck.

Crime in some regions is better, but it sure as hell isn't good in the inner cities. Our youth is forgetting what is important.

No America isn't strong. It isn't great. We are in a dark place, and cherry-picking a few specks of light doesn't change that.

Our ability to do the good work that Humanity can do? Yeh, totally. Throwing a fit about which bathroom is preferred and assuming gender pronouns and using phrases like "be a man" are really the biggest problems facing humanity aren't they.

The guy in that video is stuck in his bubble, and he doesn't realize there's a world outside it that can't make a living off pat yourself on the back youtube videos.

Y'all say it's all fine, cause y'all are used to jabroniing and getting w/e you want. It's a fuckin disgrace what y'all have done to my country

That GDP growth claim seems a bit misleading. It's within a normal range and going up as of late. It's nothing to be worried about outside of partisan scare-mongering.

Crime isn't good in the inner cities but statistics show that it's still better.

I don't know s*** about military spending so I can't fact check you there, but I'll take your word for it out of pity.

Everyone cherry-picks depending on their point of view. Even me.

But the truth is that trends seem to mostly point to "better, but still not good" all-around. I know that's not your narrative, but it's just how the facts work.

1. Should be said to you many times in my experience.

2. lmao who's the one who actually threw a fit about that again? Right, that was you

3. Oh look, three times in one post that you should be talking about yourself (alsoooo just gonna say I am 100% you have no idea what the people who run that channel know about the world)

4. Ayyy and we've got ourselves a quartet of "sheet Winter says that he should be told himself"

Get over yourself dude you aren't the shining messiah of intelligence and worldliness you desperately want to appear to be to us on this little YGO forum. You have absolutely no idea what the funk I've done, dealt with, what I've "gotten", or any of that sheet.

Or, to say it in a way better for Misc

You wanna take the first derivative of that graph love

FBI report disagrees with you on the inner cities. Violent Crime is up I believe? Either that or homicides

Military is common logic, think back to all W's pals making a killing off Iraq. Not all our def spendings go to actual military advancement

While the violent crime rate was higher in 2015 than 2014, it remains lower than 2011, and 16% lower than 2006.

Year-to-year comparisons are not indicative of trends in studies like these, due to so many variables being involved.

I went to an inner city (and go on a regular basis), and I return (and have returned) in one piece without being a victim of a crime or without seeing one take place (with the exception of the occasional traffic violation, but that occurs everywhere). Iv'e been to south central LA and its not as bad as people say it is, it's mostly the MSM fear mongering about that place.

You're owned by George Soros and you think things are okay.

D'aw, aren't you just adorable?

Scurry along now, the adults are speaking.

You need to point out statistics that actually help your cause, such as the widespread belief that racial relations have gotten worse. Not natural deviations from a "slowly yet markedly upward" trend.

I'm also decently sure that most inner-city crime is drug-related, but I don't want to look up the statistics for this. I'm just going off of what happens in my city, Baltimore. That doesn't really help my point, but it does provide rather obvious solutions, which might be a subject for a debate thread.

I agree on your assessment of our military spending. I feel like you might underestimate our military strength, though, but that's not what you're arguing in this thread.

I'm just saying the first derivative curve usually shows you better what people like Trump and I are talking about

I agree, the war on drugs is disastrous and need to be scrapped. But doing nothing about the source isn't a smart idea either. Attempting to stop the flow of heroin has sadly been conflated with xenophobia in the day and age

What are you even talking about now. If that's catharsis for you, please do show it to dad

It's ironic cause you're the first one to actually go around insulting people on YCM in this thread. Now, granted I don't give a flying sheet about what you think of me, but as much as you like to throw claims of hypocrisy and passive aggressive around, you're the king at doing so

You made a buncha false assumptions and went off the typical dick rub substance-less tirade. As much as I disagree with Jesse and Giga (Who was actually funny in his response). They're tryna have a substantive argument.

Most of those graphs look deceptively nice until you look at the first derivative (Which shows you rate of change over time). Then you'll realize that we're stagnating at a negative rate.

I'm no messiah of knowledge. Never claimed I was. I just don't get what your problem is cowcow

I'm talking about how Dad locked the election thread because the people in it were being immature fucks and then it just happens again elsewhere.

You want to show that the election thread can go on without being condescending and rude? Probably a good idea to actually show it.

This thread is indicative of how people will act when it gets reopened and it's not the best picture.

But no, it's totally just "catharsis" for me, definitely the logical assumption right? Go ahead and think of me as the boogeyman who is everything you're against.

You like to say you don't give a sheet and yet you complain whenever I say anything negative about you.

I don't throw passive aggression, if I want to say something I say it, isn't that kinda clear with what I said here? Sure, I insulted people on this thread. But you insult people eeeeeverywhere else. So yeah, this one time, got me.

I don't need a substantive argument because I'm not trying to debate. I'm saying what I think. And what I think is this was a horrible example of what the election thread will be like when re-opened. I don't need to prove anything, but if you want that thread open, you do.

I don't care about the graphs. Again. I'm not trying to debate anything here.

My problem is you constantly act like you know better, and then try to pretend you don't, it's a twisted cycle

God I can't wait until the election is over.  Then hopefully some of you--maybe all of you--will shut the hell up.

"This is what's wrong with our country, and it's your fault!"

"This is what's wrong with our country, and it's your fault!"

You think because you've been given "Wikileaks" or because you've been "reading up on Trump's misdeeds" that suddenly you have a PhD in political science and you should be in Congress.  And you're so wrapped up in "proving the opposition wrong" that it's come down to bickering between a handful of 18-20 something year olds who can barely decipher the God damn constitution, let alone decide how to "fix" the country.

Personally, I'm really sick of getting reports about you all bashing each other because you can't decide whether you should refute the argument or flame, but I'm going to do my job regardless.  What I'm not going to do, is have you turn Misc. into pseudo-debates, while you pretend like you know what the hell you're talking about.  Two years in school learning how to understand the political spectrum doesn't mean you're gonna solve my problems.  And it damn sure doesn't mean I'm capable of solving yours.  You're not adults.  You're children.

You couldn't even wait until Monday when I reopened the damn debate thread!?

Now you're flaming each other over a video of speculation, hypothesis, and theory (which, to be fair, made it interesting since that's what a lot of politics is) and you've gotten nowhere.  Give me one good reason I should open that thread back up tomorrow.

One.

And if it has anything to do with Trump or Clinton, I'm leaving it locked.

I'm not actually gonna leave it locked, I just wanna hear your piss poor answers.
