Kaminashi Nozomi is an exceptional gymnast. So much so that colleges with some of the best gymnastic programs are trying to recruit her. Unfortunately for them, she has other plans. Due to her family being extremely poor, money is everything to her. That's why she wants to step into the world of "Keijo." "Keijo" is a type of gambling sport where girls stand on a small floating platform and compete against one another. The aim is to push the other contestant off of the platform into the water, but they are only allowed to use their butt or breasts to push the others off. Will Nozomi be able to compete in the intense world of "Keijo" and bring wealth and fortune for her family?

Initially I had no interest in this show. However, some time before it aired the official twitter for the series came out and insisted that audiences not judge it by appearances and first impressions, and that, "in the case of Keijo!!!!!!!! - whether the setting is erotic or not - the real issue is rooted in a passionate pursuit of sports." So that actually convinced me to give the series a shot.

Well, I was hooked from the first episode. The series follows and lot of the same tropes and genre conventions that a lot of shounen sports series have, so it gave off a similar feeling to other things I've seen like Hajime no Ippo or Haikyuu!! and I was super excited watching it. Heck, it's essentially a boxing anime that just replaces fists with butts and breasts. I'm a bit sad that after the second episode I've decided to only read the manga, the anime simply skips and changes too much for my liking. For example, the first episode skipped 20 chapters of pretty important backstory and development in order to get straight into the action, and what has been adapted so far has disregarded things such as the existence of the entire male cast. But I still suggest that any fan of sports series give this one a shot, it's really quite good.

EDIT: I am unable to edit the thread title to include all 8 exclamation points, this saddens me.

bump:

Guys, this anime is barely a month old, and already an English Dub cast is announced. Read this and see for yourself:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-10-24/funimation-reveals-english-dub-cast-for-keijo-anime/.108053

This really isn't all that unusual. There are a lot of animes that get dubs fairly quickly. In fact Yuri on Ice which is also airing right now already has a dub. Both DR series got dubs last season too while they were airing.

Honestly this is literally just fanservice trash that's meant to pander to guys who want to watch cute girls smash into each other with their boobs and butts.

Yeah, anime can get dubbed pretty quickly nowadays. Whenever a company like FUNimation licences a new season of anime they get the dubs out within a few weeks, typically.

I find that response a little close-minded. Mind you, that was more or less my initial impression of the series going into it, but after getting into it and reading the manga it's definitely more than just lame fanservice otherwise it'd hold no interest for me.

I get what you're saying, and sure there might be some good plot behind this, and some good characters, but when you have ridiculous shots like this

I mean it's egregious. It's not so much the premise itself that annoys me because it's just the sort of ridiculous thing you usually get from anime, but it's just egregious shots like this one or the Ass of Babylon thing that just rub me the wrong way. Like it feels like even scenes that are supposed to meaningful are ruined by fanservice-y sheet.

Following both the anime and manga to see what is changed.

It's slightly disorienting that the anime skips a lot of the earlier arcs and background stories to put the cast in the training school. Also it excises the male extras (male students attend the school to become Land technicians) which makes Cerberus' BL fantasies feel slightly out of place, among other things.

Nevertheless, it's nice seeing the action come to life.
