The site seems be having issues, at least for me. Many links on the site don't work, many profiles images are missing, the button beside my username up top that would normally create a drop-down menu for statuses just redirects me to my profile.

 

Is anyone else having these issues, or am I just crazy? I already cleared browsing data and everything.

I still get the dropdown, but both me and BlackBeartick are having issues with the site, as we discussed on the Parasite Fusioner thread

when I pressed the "Special BBCode" button, my screen went dark for a fraction of a second and then went back to normal.

 

Now when I press the button, nothing happens.

 

Also, Slinky's profile pic doesn't load.

 

Call me crazy, but I think this is to do with the Halloween Event

I am figuring out most of the issues. As far as I can tell, all "getnewpost" links are broken. That said, thread cannot be accessed from the community index, you need to go into their respective subforum first.

Yeah, I tried from the index first before going to the subforum. Same thing with some of the other threads I tried. (Though I had encountered problems with a couple of threads when trying to access it via the subforum)

I've also observed that visiting my profile is impossible from the dropdown menu

Edit 2: No comments for status, and clicking "Members" gives me this: CalendarDateSelect Error: Prototype could not be found. Please make sure that your application's layout includes prototype.js (.g. <%= javascript_include_tag :defaults %>) *before* it includes calendar_date_select.js (.g. <%= calendar_date_select_includes %>)

Editing a post prevents the page from loading.

Oh hey I can see Beary's avi and no one else's.

Literally can't do anything to a post besides type, no colors, no bold, nothing. Sheesh. At least I know it's not just me (Skype was being buggy too earlier)

If it's a Halloween event related thing then I'm going to be pissed, unless it's a mistake, but I doubt that.

I'm having the same problems as you guys; just confirming this. (It's likely the other staff have problems as well).

 

While I don't know if this has anything to do with the Halloween event or YCM is just acting crazy, I can't check the Admin CP to see if there's any code that's messed up with member groups or something. Most I can do at this point is just mention it to the other staff members and see if anyone did something, but I don't think the issues are due to the Halloween event. (It's just this site with issues; spinoff sites are fine)

Through a bit of experimentation with the html, I am pretty close to certain that the profiles that are made inaccessible by these bugs are whichever profiles contain characters not on a standard keyboard. Not sure how that makes any sense at all, but my experimentation has led me to believe it to be the case.

 

EDIT: This is because otherwise, their URL contains an encoded character.

 

EDIT 2: Further tinkering in HTML shows that I can fix the pictures that would be displayed around the site by shortening the image location url to end with jpg, though this raises further questions about why some picture, such as Winter's, remain visible without altering html despite containing the characters I am otherwise removing.

 

EDIT 3: A bit more experimentation done, removed my profile pic to see what would happen. Default profile pic (head silhouette) actually works, presumably because it is remotely hosted, similarly to how images in posts remain.

 

EDIT 4: It seems that all URL query strings (stuff at the end of the URL which begins with ?) are nonfunctional, which explains getnewpost, specific post links, and basically every image not working. Still unsure if this is connected to the issue with URLs containing nonstandard characters.

How did you get into your settings? I can't load my profile, nor my dropdown.

You have to access your profile page, then click the button "Edit Profile". However, that works if you can even access it.

Currently, your profile is completely inaccessible, since the URL is coded in %strings to utilize the unicode characters in your name. Working on a way to find my way onto those pages now.

 

EDIT: It seems some query strings still work, such as those for editing posts and entering into the shop tab. It may be because both of these examples function as IPB apps, but I can't be sure yet.

 

EDIT 2: Uploaded a new profile picture as a png to see if that would allow it to work (as BS, JamesMuddy, and Tyretian all have PNG avatars which seem to be unaffected) but was met with no luck.

Okay so an update. Went on Chrome and can open Comments and Spoilers. As well as change theme and possibly more stuff.

However still can't see avatars or code.

This is what I can see. I can edit colors. However, to access threads, I have to mess with the url.

So, it seems that this is affecting different members differently, which honestly makes an even greater mess of the whole issue.

 

EDIT: Opened in Firefox, getting similar results to what The Flawless Hit had. Also, he has successfully donated me a point.

 

EDIT 2: Turn's out Byakuya's profile is also inaccessible, making it the first inaccessible profile I have encountered that contains no special characters in the URL.

(Note: On posting I cannot access either standard or BBC editing mode, I just have a textbox. Also, my spoilers don't seem to be able to open, so unsure what it's like for other people, that's why I'm linking the image URL rather than post the full image.)
