Inspired by Rank10YGO’s Legacy of the Worthless, this weekend I’m handling the poorly thought out “Neos” and “Neo-Spacians”. So when deciding to retrain “Neos”, I was unsure of how to go about it. I could either give it good support that made it a high-risk, high-reward archetype, or I could just retrain them to give them more consistency and make them overall better. In the end after talking with Ratamakafon, I decided on the latter. It is a deck from an anime character, it’d probably be better to make it less of a gimmick, and just more consistent. Also, these retrains are just going to be named the same as the original monster, because there's no way I could come up with enough original names for that many cards. This is why I focus on already existing cards, easier to come up with names. My poor naming skills are probably the biggest reason for why I have not made an original archetype. Anyway, Neo-Spacians are the monsters that spawned the idea of Contact Fusion (fusing monster on the field without Polymerization), and could possibly even be credited for the eventual creation of Synchro Monsters. Hell, you could go even further and say that NEX was an unfinished prototype for “Masked Heroes”. Unfortunately at the time, Konami must’ve thought the idea would be too unbalanced, and over corrected by giving them the asinine condition that they must return to Extra Deck during the End Phase unless they have Neo Space on the field. For this archetype, not only will I be retraining the 6 main Neo-Spacians (minus Grand Mole, because he’s actually good), I will also be taking on the Nex variants. I also thought about keeping Neos as a vanilla, because I actually do like the idea of basing an archetype around a normal monster, but eventually I decided it wouldn’t be a good idea, and gave him an easier self-summoning condition. Also tackled were Neos Wiseman and Divine Neos. Neos Wiseman would be a card that might actually be a decent back-up in Rainbow Neos turbo with how I retrained it, I was influenced by Performapal Odd-Eyes Metal Claw when making its first effect. After hearing Rata’s comment in the Venoms video about how he thought Vennominaga’s effect would be saved up for something like Divine Neos, I decided to basically make the card a win more ultimate boss monster card that you’ll probably summon about as often as Timaues the Knight of Destiny, but it’s a bit easier to get out with cards like Convert Contact (which is specifically why I’m not retraining it to be a better Trade-In). Speaking of Convert Contact I didn’t want to make this archetype focused on spamming out Neo-Spacians seeing as Space Gift is a thing, but I’d totally recommend running it with my retrained Neo Space, as if you have Prisma in the hand, you can Special Summon it along with a Neo Spacian if Neo Space is on the field, change its name to that of a Neo-Spacian, and proceed to go +1, and possibly net yourself a triple contact fusion if Neos is also in the hand. Though I am a bit worried by my Chrysalis card, as with Cocoon Party you could possibly summon my new generic Chrysalis monster to go +2 without drawbacks. Also, I made Twinkle Moss a decent draw engine too if you run a Spell heavy deck, so have fun abusing that. Some notes, I did design this with intent that you’d also probably run 3 Elemental Hero Prisma for more consistency, and that it at the very least could possibly synergize with HEROs. Also, as Neo Space Pathfinder can retrieve it from the Graveyard, I decided to not give Neo Space a floating effect. Anyway, after all is said and done, I’m thinking I might’ve actually made them to powerful, and if you think so, please tell me so I can tone them down. Also, there might be a lot more PSCT errors here than usual, especially with my Neo-Spacian Dark/Black Panther, so please tell me how you might fix them if you notice any. Finally, just for the hell of it, have my Ma’at retrain too since it was used by Judai/Jaden in the manga. Anyway, I’ve yammered on long enough, so here are the monsters: [spoiler=Main Deck Monsters (8 Cards)]Proto ChrysalisAqua-Type/WATER/Level 2/ATK 0/DEF 0You can tribute this card while “Neo-Space” is on the field to Special Summon 1 “Neo-Spacian” monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. When you would take battle damage from a battle involving a “Neo-Spacian” or “Neos” monster you control, you can banish this card from your Graveyard to make that battle damage become 0. Neo-Spacian Aqua DolphinAqua-Type/WATER/Level 3/ATK 600/DEF 800Once per turn: You can pay 500 LP; look at 1 random card in your opponent’s hand, and if you control a monster with ATK greater than or equal to the ATK of the chosen card, you can destroy that card.
