Just Crouton
Idea came from Kaiba's Spell Absorption card. Absorb MagicCounter target instant. Apply 1 of these abilities.-Absorb Magic becomes a copy of that countered spell.-Gain Life equal to the countered spell’s converted mana cost. (GigaDrillBreaker)
Honestly, Dispel is already a very good card, there shouldn't be a strictly better version. Perhaps raise cmc to 2.
CuriousHeartless
Too undercosted. And it would be "Choose one --" not apply. Blue doesn't get life gain so the second ability is a no-go.
Trebuchet MS
If you want to retain the lifegain, changing the cost to UW would make it a little more fair. Now, as for the first option, I need to know whether you're copying the spell, copying then casting, taking control of the spell while it's still on the stack, or re-casting it from the opponent's graveyard. Spells turning into other spells is a little underdeveloped design space, but MtG's no stranger to creating copies of spells on the stack. Either way, you will still need to include the "you may choose new targets" clause.
