Black Stone is still $40 a pop, so I decided to try a different tack, focusing more on using gemini monsters and the fact that Red-Eyes mills pretty much every monster in the deck to get stuff moving. Between Insight, Cards, REF, and Meteo Black, the deck can put a lot of monster in the grave really quickly. I almost want to drop the allures and run more return/Silver/Swing of memories, especially with the interactions with Meteor Dragon and the latter. Spark being able to unclog hands is also a nice bonus, and honestly just as much of an investment compared to black stone.

Not sure if escape would work, simply because it's a trap card, but you do have a point that the deck does also banish a bunch of stuff. So I'm thinking maybe either DDR or Pot of Avidity, to help circulate my banished cards back into the deck to be milled. Probably going to drop Summoned Skull and maybe a terraforming to try 2 of either of those.

Ooh, looks good. How did it brick? Was it mostly monster-full hands, or were they more full of spells? In my experience it was many times the latter.

 

When I have a ton of spells, I can normally wreck. The problem is when I draw 4 monsters and a trap.

Hmmm. Maybe I might drop another card (summoned skull?) to run another copy of cards of the red or upstart?

 

Without Summoned Skull you can't Summon BDA. I dropped another Lightning for an Upstart, as I really didn't see why it was in the deck.

Archfiend of Lightning is, I think more important than vanilla skull. it's another red-Eyes monster to mill for Insight or Meteo, it's live with Spark field, you can still make Black Skull with them (though you need to use mirror instead), and functions with R-E meteor dragon to make Utopia Beyond or Beatrice . Summoned Skull is only there to make REF able to mill for Archfiend Black Skull, and there are only really a few instances when I've desperately needed to make Black Skull over Meteo. Also being effectively Raigeki on a 2500 body isn't necessarily a bad thing.
