Zauls
So Youtube has released a set of regulations that deems certain content inappropriate to be monetised: So basically all content that isn't completely free of profanity etc. is not eligible to gain revenue from advertising. It even says discussing "controversial or sensitive subjects" means you can't gain money from advertising. I had a huge wall of text rant prepared for this, but I'll leave it to you guys to discuss the possible implications of this. Personally, I think it's a f***ing joke and social media seems to agree. (GigaDrillBreaker)
Does YouTube have a policy against third-party advertisement? I recall it being a big deal when YouTube channels first started becoming relevant jobs rather than just hobbies, and popular channels that couldn't advertise through regular means with these new rules certainly could gain outside sponsorship. Ryusei the Morning Star
The wonderful world of liberal political correctness. Don't worry Zuals, it's code for we're shutting down right wing talk...nothing to see here that isn't already applauded and happening
Jord200
This has NOTHING to do with politcs... Anyways, I heard this has always been here, they just are going actually enforce it soemwhat more. As someone said on Twitter, "TLDR about the YT thing. They always could do this, did do this, and can do way worse. Does it make it right? No. Can they still do it? Yup." Simply put, it sucks.... epicmemesbro
This has to do more with a business decision. YouTube is trying to lead more towards a "family friendly" setting. This was originally started with their anti cyber bullying initiative which would flag videos that would have individuals set up to be harassed after. I suspect that this is actually meant to regulate "satire" channels which tend to fall under most if not all the guidelines that would lead to demonetization such as leafyishere and gradeAunderA. YouTube is going after liberals as well, Mrrepzion is also facing demonetization and I suspect that The Amazing Atheist will follow suit as well. LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
I mean Youtube already was supposed to regulate a lot of this to begin with. I get the feeling they will likely let many things slide, especially established channels, but this will let them enforce some of the more extreme cases. Susie
I dont care that YouTube are trying to get rid of monetization on certain things that do sort of need a filter on them but theyre doing it the wrong way by far. Some of the sheet on there is way too vague and ridiculous and YouTube should at least modify this sheet so that they can only attack extreme cases and not attack on things like sexual humor, natural disasters, and vulgar language. Delibirb
All of these regulations have been in place for a while. They just started cracking down on actually enforcing them.
ihop
What sort of impact will this have on the music industry? There are tons of songs with profanity in them and if artists are making 0 money out of songs being available on Youtube it's only a matter of time before those songs stop being available. Aerion Brightflame
They will either censor bad language as done so already or the channels will just be too big to ignore it if they will. YouTube is still effective advertisement for artists (and music is great for getting people onto and using it) I can't imagine a mutually beneficial solution can't be found
Spinny
This would be okay if Youtube wasnt bullshit at implementing it, of all people to be hit first such as leafy, Phillip de franco is being taken down. Phillip de franco. wtf youtube.

a bad post
It actually does, a gay YT for Trump had half a dozen of his videos demonetized It's the same bullshit that happen with facebook a while back, but it really shouldn't bother any of you guys You can't talk about Israel either Last line, read it If you're talking about Milo please stop. That man is nothing but belligerent towards other people, and is as viciously opposed to views that disagree with his own as the "liberal thought police feminazis" he claims to be against. More on topic most established channels break these rules, so either they won't be enforced very strictly or they will go away. Does it kinda suck? Yeah. But if we're being realistic a lot of people probably wont be affected by it anyhow.
