We don't know.

Some say they're aliens, some say they're the standard video game enemy, some say they're the souls of ships who sunk and came back wrong, some say they're demons. We have no idea.

They exist as the antagonists of Kantai Collection.

The Abyssal Fleet.

The more humanoid an Abyssal is, the stronger it is. Abyssal Bosses are extremely humanoid, and are capable of speech ( in otherwords have voiced dialouge. )

Well I'm along with the most common and widely accepted theory.

They are sunken counterparts to the ships you can have in game. Or at least some of them are. For example...

This is Harusame.

And this is Destroyer-Hime ( Destroyer Princess )

Look closely.

Same face shape, same eye shape, same outfit, same hairstyle, both have hats, they both even have cannons on their wrists.

In addition, Bosses like Destroyer-Hime are usually introduced for the first time in a Seasonal Event. Said Events are usually based off realife operations of the Pacific War.

The Event where Destroyer-Hime first appeared in...the battle it was based off, there was only one Japanese Ship sunk...

Shiratsuyu-Class Destroyer Harusame.

Plus the Devs have confirmed that Destroyer-Hime IS Harusame's Abyssal Form.

Iowa and Warpsite are ships from the Allied Powers's Navies.

Iowa is from the US

Warpsite if British

Them being obtainable disproves the theory that the Abyssal Fleet are supposed to be the Aliied Powers.

Time for a quick WWII History Lesson.

If you want. I don't really do clubs though. Well TECHNICALLY I do, but it has been.....damn, maybe five or six years since I was in a club on here? Plus I'm juggling a bunch of things, including college and work. I could try and help, but I don't know how much I could help.

The Soviet Union shared two mutual enemies with the allied powers. Nazi Germany and Japan. Also if you're listing them in power order, as much as I like to admit we did our part (the British Empire, I mean), the Soviets did a looooot of the heavy lifting of bringing down the nazis. Stalin was a funking horrible person, equally horrible as Tojo and Hitler, just in different ways, but I won't deny the Soviets did their part. Also Germany was the major threat of the axis powers.

Japan was a super power in terms of military power, but their economy was pretty weak in comparison to the British, Americans and Germans. It was obvious Germany was the bigger threat, hence why the Germany first policy of the US, with the Pacific Theatre taking a backseat until Germany had surrendered. Japan suffered from a bit of the "gg, funking noob team" syndrome. It was heavily dependent on the Tripartite Pact, much like Italy. Germany was the only one who could stand alone, really. Which is essentially what happened, because the Germans and Japanese actually basically hated each other and only worked together because of mutual goals, ie: Taking over the world. Had Hitler actually succeeded, he'd have likely turned against Japan at some point, because they were outside of his "perfect" Aryan race that he desired so much, and Japan also thought of itself as the nucleus race of the world, on the account of having the least body hair and odour, according to... Japanese governmental claims. I believe the book was called "A Study into the Yamato Race as the nucleus", basically the Japanese equivalent of Mein Kampf.
