Face McShooty
An article was posted about Kevin Owens (real name Kevin Steen) winning the WWE Universal Championship and his wife, Karina Steen, posting a video of their 8 year old son, Owen, reacting to him winning it (article here: http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/08/kevin-owens-wwe-raw-universal-title)Ok, that's a heart warming article... But what will follow makes my blood boil! An ESPN radio host, Amin Elhassen, responded to the tweet that the above article was posted with, with this tweet. The wrestling community, so far mainly fans, have responded with all kinds of messages for this guy. One that sticks out to me though, is this beautiful message that brings all wrestling fans togetherDo you think Amin should've kept his thoughts to himself? Do you think fans are right to come after him? Do YOU have a message for this guy?
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
I think it's an overreaction in the extreme especially as it's a joke that's been said many times. If he had went to the kid and said "It's not real" and such I could get it but that didn't happen. Face McShooty
It wasn't a joke though, his other tweets prove it
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Doesn't matter. The fact that it's scripted is widely known and it's such an innocuous comment that the reaction is silly.
Face McShooty
He went after a kid though, that's what sparked the reactions.
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
He went after a kid though, that's what sparked the reactions. He didn't "go after" them. It involved them. That's it. Did he go to the kid himself and tell him "It's scripted you dumbass"? No, he made a tweet about it. He didn't insult anyone. He just made the comment. And it happened to have a kid related to the specific situation. That's all I'll say anymore because that's all there really is to say.
Blake
Or, maybe, this is a gross overreaction, and the title is clickbaity as hell. A title really shouldn't be taking a side before you even click it. The guy isn't wrong. He's not "going after a kid". He's commenting on an article. Which makes it out like MY DADDY DID THE BEST... and the kid will never, ever see this.
Spinny
Yeah it's not really as bad as it was made out to be.
Shradow
I doubt a lot of people are up in arms about this, this is nothing. You'd have to be a pretty ignorant fan to think wrestling isn't scripted entertainment.
Face McShooty
We know it's scripted but to tell an 8 year old austitic kid that's excited that his dad won the biggest match of his career so far that it is... Kinda lowWWE Legend and RAW General Manager has demanded an on air apology
Sander
We know it's scripted but to tell an 8 year old austitic kid that's excited that his dad won the biggest match of his career so far that it is... Kinda low Did he TELL THE KID that? No, it's just a damn tweet. Stop being so upset about some x comment on Twitter that the kid will not see. Just Crouton
A kid just saw his dad on TV do something awesome. I don't see why it matters whether it's scripted, or how some nobody a****** on ESPN thinks about said kid loving to see his dad do cool things on TV. Agro
so are wrestling fans usually this mad when people make fun of the fact that it's scripted so you have to buy in to the narrative without which betrays the very essence of the spectacle of sport? If so, I'm sure they'd have kind words to me as a kid. He didnt go after the kid or tell him his dad isnt a champion, he said it in a void where this kid wasnt listening. If the kid ever does hear it, I bet you it's only because people blew this out of propotion. Not really a story. New Day Rocks
Blake
ITT: "You hurt my feelings by saying the truth so apologize" Like, funk, this isn't anything. The kid being autistic has nothing to do with it, as he was never directly involved. He wasn't attacked, he wasn't harmed, and making a joke about it is fine. Bringing autisim in is nothing more than a self-righteous attempt to back up points without putting in effort. The kid can be excited all he wants, fine, but he will never see this tweet (at least, he never should, and only a fuckwit would let him), and it IS scripted. It means funking nothing. Congratulations, you were slated to win something from the start without trying. Whoop-de-doo.
Snatch Steal
Um, nobody freaks out when a kid is told Santa Claus isn't real, so this shouldn't be any different.
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
ESPN made Amin apologizeForced apologies are terrible ideas. Um, nobody freaks out when a kid is told Santa Claus isn't real, so this shouldn't be any different.Yeah pretty much. I'm fairly sure there's hundreds of things out on the internet about Santa, tooth fairy, etc not being real. Places much easier for a kid to see, as well. Tentacruel
This is a non-issue. It's just another dumbass going "wrestling is fake." So is Batman, people still throw their money at it. If we freaked out about every dumb comment made on the internet the universe would implode.
