Dad
While it's not actually close (couple trillion miles) this is another one of those finds that makes you wonder if we'll discover other life forms in my lifetime. Talk about hype.

cr47t
we could make it 4 light years = 2.351e+13 miles last time I clecked but hey, science is always advancing, maybe we could make it after all... but then again, the communication lag would be 4 years. This is pretty exciting/interesting for me, but I wouldn't shift our focus from Mars anytime soon.
Aerion Brightflame
4 light years is still stupidly far in terms of real distance. Given we can't travel anywhere near the speed of light it'll be a really long time till we actually get there. The potential observations we get from it could be hugely important because we are only talking that 4 year delay in observation, not 1000s like normal. So if we get proof of other intelligent life developing thats where the fun measurements come from

This should be another article about the same thing; http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/30/health/seti-signal-hd-164595-alien-civilization/ Do you think it's a real signal? Or just noise? Everyone, let's hear what you have to say.

We're still no better even if this is legit because we're never be able to communicate with them in a reasonable fashion
