Goose
Hello everyone! We will soon be producing a newsletter that will be sent out via email to all members of this website who have given us that permission. My name is Goose and I will be spearheading the project. Our goal is to showcase the exciting creations of everyone here and to use it as a way to draw new members in. It will be sent out to roughly 200,000 people so professionalism is key. What I'm looking for in this thread is feedback from the many smart people of this forum. Everything below is changeable within the constraints of what is possible and remembering our goal. The newsletter will have a featured article of some sort, then a few smaller pieces. It will also have a section for interesting discussions going on in the forum. Content will range from custom cards to creative writing to whatever the TCG section has to offer (not fully sure about this one). I want to make sure that the content is drawn in a sustainable way which means I wont be hand picking random threads and cards to put into the newsletter. Ideally, there will be people from each forum that creates content who will be in charge of putting forward content they want to add instead. If we have more pieces than we can fit, someone (likely me) will pick the most interesting things. So what do you have to say?

So what do you have to say?1) Daily contribution to goose to 1K fund I think the best way to do this would be to follow a format similar to traditional papers. So like leaders of each section form the editorial board, and post in their expertise. Members who feel they need to voice something can make like Op-eds and stuff? One thing I want to stress is that I feel the people most active in a section should be the ones do make the page relevant to that section instead of just a member the mod teams decides represents them. Blake
I'd be willing to write bits about design/upcoming sets for YGO and maybe CFV, for sure.
Darj
Not sure if serious, but if it is, I had this idea for a while of starting a kind of "Card of the Week" review project about YCM Custom Cards. Basically, every week choose a card (from either Casual or Advanced Section) that picks my interest and describe and elaborate on what it would do in the game if it was released: its applications, impact, etc.I actually considered making a YCM blog about it, but I suppose it could be implemented in this newsletter instead. Also, saying it now: I can't guarantee that I will deliver 1 review per week, because I may get busy with other things. That aside, most likely this is already being planned, but I would like the newsletter to be posted in YCM as well, or even get its own subsection below the "News" section. That's because I personally don't want to bother with checking the email's inbox just to read the newsletter.

Good ideas. Defs like making sure that more than just mods are involved. I'd be willing to write bits about design/upcoming sets for YGO and maybe CFV, for sure. Cool. I don't think we'll be featuring non-ygo frequently if ever but design and upcoming ygo sets sounds like great content. I personally think the newsletter should be monthly so as to not clutter people's inboxes and ensure that it actually gets read.
Dad
Personal point of interest: I'd like to see the GFX section assist in designing the YCM Newsletter display. We have a lot of talented artists on this site (I'm not one of them :3) and I'd love to see them shine. Perhaps some sort of GFX spotlight? Even if it's small, it'd be nice to see a small section pointing out the highs of individual sections.

While I'm not in charge of design, I /think/ YCMaker is looking to get a GFX artist from YCM to work on that part.
