Mr420QuickScopes
My all time highlights of this amazing forum back in my days were definitely the Graphics section and the RolePlaying section, but the graphic section is so much quieter than i remember :( Did some anomaly come and steal all our fantastic digital artists from us? Flash Flyer - Sakura
A lot of the veterans you probably remember from the old days have moved on with their lives or had other reasons for leaving (- DG -, Chaotix, EHK, Yondaime, etc.) There are several factors that contributed to the decline in GFX (and really, the rest of YCM as a whole from what I've heard). You still have Night (though not as much nowadays because he's busy), Smear, Catman, Tormey, Dae, Rai and a few others. That, and Night did post a spriting tutorial to try getting interest into graphics. It worked for a time, but tapered off a bit lately. There is some fresh blood in the section, though, only a select few people. Resource section is pretty much dead; Competitions only has Signature of the Week nowadays (Smear might do something to encourage more activity, but this is not a guarantee) and Shops is pretty much limited to Tormey and me doing orders in there [requests has some stuff here/there]. Icy
I could probably generate enough content for the whole of resources for years to come if I could bother coming up with something comprehensive. And I'm nowhere near active enough on this site to post works there. Though I did learn how to animate recently. But my primary art program does not support it without purchase and I don't feel like spending the 20 USD on the pro version for it given that its updated a mere every few years. So I'll have to learn a new pipeline to make it work. But yea it seems a bit on the rut side.
Mr420QuickScopes
If I had my own computer id be trying to learn a lot more just to be able to post more stuff on here, but when I can only get on a computer a couple of times a week it isn't as easy as I'd hope, some more tutorials would be nice if the pros get the time and motivation haha. Most people use photoshop or some other form of paid program so it doesn't always translate to GIMP, I'll have to goo going through and try and pull up some old stuff that's newby friendly. The pinned one with basics isn't bad, don't it doesn't really cover specific techniques the way I need. I will bring some life back! Even if it kills me xD
Icy
Well, I mean if you've got ideas for a tutorial on something you'd like to know (this offer extends to anyone whos reading this mind you), I could maybe come up with something? I'm more of a hands-on teacher though.

Flash Flyer - Sakura
I technically have Photoshop [CS3], but it's on my other computer and I can't exactly import brushes and stuff into it. Most of the time, I use GIMP for graphics projects. Would've liked to sprite more, but since the Linux equivalent of Paint kinda sucks and doesn't do it the way I'd like (and XP Paint lacks certain features), I went back to doing tag/sig stuff. To be fair, I did promise Night that I'd get back into Showcase when I returned, but lack of motivation and obvious time issues have not given me much opportunity to make stuff (besides the usual render orders and small stuff people ask me for in Shops). Wanted to do something for SoTW, but you get it. ----Too bad pack making isn't as popular like it was a few years ago, though. Still trying to scratch the NewGen circle on my own, but mine looks really bad.
Mr420QuickScopes
Yeah I find I'm more of a hands on learner as well, certain things don't convey as well when they're made for a general audience. I've mainly go to get the hang of filters again so I can do some good tags and that, if I had the time (no job or girlfriend) I'd probably be pretty well off xD I'll see if I can find any good looking stuff that id like to recreate to try and get used to the techniques. Yeah it's gay 90% of everything is for Windows and Linux & Mac get fight over the scraps, I'm definitely gonna save my money up for a powerful laptop I think, so I can run high end programs and play games haha, my last laptop got fried by 3DS max with its first render xD

Smear
The main problem about Graphic's activity is that no-one comes to the forum to post artworks, considereing it's a YGO-based forum. We've lost a lot of members since 2010, and a lot of the Showcase community left with them. Reminder to everyone that Showcase is open to any art, not just tags! I myself have posted everything from simple icons (not sure if 30 layers of subtle effects is considered simple but whatever), to pixel art, to 3d art, to big pieces that are artsy, to real world sculptures (2 at any rate), and drawings. I seldom do any actual signatures/tags.
Night
i used to dabble in the gfx section like five or six years ago Do you still make those insane ms paint pieces? If so you should post that sheet. As for graphic design, there was a time when I could rally the kids and get sheet going again, though over the years that's become proceedingly difficult to achieve. In my eyes, all of us who are left are just stubborn old fucks who just can't let that last ember die out. Mr420QuickScopes
I'm happy to put things on there, but honestly I have such a blank mind 90% of the time XD and i really need to learn how to do things again, so for now i'll just post up what i can muster and hope that the pros can advise me on how to improve haha. My main thing i'm trying to learn now is how to do a sort of realism type colouring on line art, all help welcome :P
