IQuitDolphin
So, after deciding to jump on the PK bandwagon, I immediately noticed a slight drop in the frequency in which I field Beatrice. After running preliminary calculations adding in PK (3/2/1) and it's necessary engine pieces drops the chance of fielding Beatrice from 3 BAs in hand from 40% to 14%, which is a significant drop. Although the PKs themselves can be used to make Dante, they require a specific pair with Boots, and the chance of opening Boots along with any other of your PKs has a much lower chance of occurring than merely opening 2 different-named BAs that are not reliant on each other. Plus, Phantom Knights are usually better used as a Tour Guide of sorts, as using them as a pseudo-BA defeats the primary purpose of using them as a way to play around Beatrice t3. In addition, running 6 Phantom Knights can lead to weird hands where you only open 1 PK, essentially making it a blank unless you utilize Libic (a waste of resources) or Allure of Darkness. Allure is not very good in BA in general as, at best, you trade in 1 BA for 1 BA, meaning you gain no net value aside from possibly trading your BA for a different name, all of which are relatively similar aside from Cir or Graff. Even in BAPK, trading a PK is the only valuable interaction for Allure of Darkness, but at this point you are accounting for a scenario that is unlikely to happen and in a deck that is known to be consistent AF in fielding the same boards every single game. This is a sign of poor deck-building in my opinion since rather than solving the issue of bricked PK hands we are running a card as if that card is supposed to "fix" it, when in reality Allure is a strictly worse card to open in literally every other situation, causing more problems than it solves. The PK engine adds a needed second ceiling for the deck after fielding a Beatrice, but as it stands right now our PK lineup still feels bloated and still contributes to more bricking than it should. By cutting it down further to a mere 3/1/3 ratio, we can decrease the chances of bricking PKs further while still retaining the benefits of running the engine. ---- BAPK has an awful matchup vs Xyz Monarchs. Monarchs have a big advantage over BA in terms of resource management, and Monarchs can outlast BA in a war of attrition. This is because the PK engine decreases the deck's long-game capabilities drastically; without cards like Traveler, Cir looping is not possible, and you are forced to engage in a slow cycle of Dante recycling Cir and other slow forms of looping, which simply won't cut it against a deck that is as aggressive as Monarchs. You also have no true win condition as you have no way of poking for damage as Prime blocks most attempts and you must dedicate a considerable amount of resources to even remove one threat on board only for them to field a second one. It's a downhill defensive battle with no way to truly win. Another thing I eventually disliked was the Speedroid engine. The Speedroid engine on its own contributes to an instant Dante, but I found that the Speedroid is only marginally better than just running 4 BAs, and the Speedroids themselves contribute to additional inconsistencies as well as make you more vulnerable to Veiler. BA as a whole do not really care for hand advantage, and having 3 cards in hand rather than 2 is usually irrelevant. By removing the Speedroids I am able to run more high-value BAs like Farfa and Alich, as well as fit in the trap engine which I will go over briefly. The trap engine as a whole has been dropped from newer variants of BA, but right now I truly believe we should go full circle and embrace it again. This is because the very existence of Traveler and Fire Lake in the Main Deck gives you a way to generate positive trades against Monarchs, which is very important in a war of attrition. Even against Demise Kozmo you can blowout their entire backrow in a manner similar to Twin Twisters. At worst it lets you thin the deck by 2 using Cagna. ----- Admittedly the points made are very sloppy and poorly arranged, but I was really impatient and wanted to get this out. If anybody has any thoughts on the points I made above, fire away. (get it, PK Fire?-*shot*).
byak
I'm very skeptical about this approach but if you're going to play traveler and draghig play a got dam back jack in your deck xyz universe + ultimatrainer is very strong in the side deck for the mirror and random matchups kaijus are very weak, solemn warning should probably be in your main deck because it's broken
