Dad
I want to keep our General Section alive and kicking. With that in mind, I want to bring a lot more news to the section, because it sparks debates. I talked in another thread about using debates to make front page General flourish. This means I'd like to touch on more topics that YCM seems to neglect or just disregard. While these vary, you'd be surprised at the types of different debates that could spark from something as simple as the latest in science news. In addition, I will be focusing a large portion of my time in Debates, trying to draw more people to have their voices heard in that section, even if only for a little while. I also had some more fun things in mind, and even a few things for MISC (no big changes, just some fun stuff). I don't have too many intentions for Polls or Clubs/Orgs at this time. Probably won't touch them at all because Sakura is doing such a fantastic job taking care of polls as is, but I'll try to get myself more involved in the polls themselves to give myself a reason to pop in every day or so. Some things I would like to include are: --General Thread of the Week. When something blows up with likes or draws a large post count, I'd like to temporarily move it to the top of General via sticky to further promote it for a few days, before unstickying it later. Draws the eyes and makes it easier to find big topics. --Thought Prompts. These would mainly reside in Debates and be used to generate a debate that has not yet been started. They would not be based on a particular schedule but rather spur of the moment "shower thoughts" if you will. Basically, they would be similar to the "morality"-esque topics that sort of don't have a right or wrong answer, but can be used to fight both sides. For now, I'm still doing some thinking and I know I have a lot to work on, but I value your input. If there's some things you'd like to get across or address that you'd like to see changes, say something.
Nathanael D. Striker
Shame you plan on neglecting Clubs and Organizations like your peers are. At least give that section some events it can do? As for Debates, bring specific political issues into the fold. Debate about GMO labeling, debate about the minimum wage, etc. Pretty sure we have a few vocal people for the latter, don't you think? Ryusei the Morning Star
I've actually been thinking that "activity" in general is measure wrong (atleast in debates) Giving a good response that has strong factual basis and addresses the point isn't always something you can do right away (ie, why I haven't responded to flame on the Trump Finance post @Presidential Thread) So I do like your idea of starting weekly threads. As the General mod, I think you should also make some of the more controversial threads that people are unwilling to make. Like Abortion. Like Death Penalty. Etc (Which you noted in the prompts idea) I think you're on the right track mate, really look forward to your moddship. Just wanna say, welcome back to general mate

That's not quite what I meant when I mentioned Clubs/Orgs. Let me clarify: Clubs/Orgs is very dull, but it has it's own upkeep in that each club is based on a sort of niche idea. I liked that a while back the clubs came together to create individual club decorations. I'd like to touch on things like that, but Clubs/Orgs will not be my priority. Just wanna say, welcome back to general mate I want debates to be able to present strong factual information from both parties on either side of the argument/political spectrum, but also have weight in personal value. I know things like religious debates are going to come up. I plan on being one to participate in them and even start them. And thanks.
