What gets you active on YCM?

I've found many people are a lot more active than I am (i mean, I would like to be more active but have no idea what to do.)

So, I wanted to ask; what gets you to do stuff on YCM? Why do you do it? What advice do you have to me? etc.

Discuss. (I would add more but idk what to add.)

(Also, this is my 1000th post. Level 5 FTW)

Nothing more than boredom and lack of another forum on which I'm an established member.

Similarly here. I cut ties with the only other forum on which I was a regular poster because the environment was getting downright toxic.

But yeah, I get to geek out about both MtG and roleplaying (my two preferred only hobbies) in one place. Plus, I've been on the site for almost 8 years now. It's a routine to check in here if nothing else.

I have some things here that I'm proud of. Including mixed/fixed relationships with members here.  About half a year ago (earlier this year?) I was ful on locked horns with Winter and vla1ne.  Now I'm able to (most of the time) hear their ends and odds and meet them halfway and talk without baring my teeth.  I'm proud of that.

Not to mention there's some great role-players here who have brought me a lot of fun and helped me to become a bit of a better amateur writer.  I've got projects I'm working on that wouldn't be possible without them.

Shoutout to Zach, JT, Ryan, Joe, Zai, Keto, Ain, Pat, and everybody else who I've ever RP'd with.  Thanks for showing Pops a good time.

JT

Holy cow you RPed with Justin Timberlake?

Anyway. Active on YCM, good question...Honestly I mostly come here to goof off initially but end up getting drawn into tournaments (Showdown and polls) and RPs and such. So I guess for me what gets me active here are things that let me express my feelings, create something, or show people my moves

I've been on this site for a long time, so part of it is habit. There's also a surprisingly high amount of interesting discussion to read through, and I can discuss games n' stuff with people which is cool. Hell, it's been years since I haven't been checking YCM consistently. Leaving the site would be too damn weird.

Anime threads (XY, ARC-V), some mod discussions, reviewing cards in my section, voting in GPT, scattered GFX requests and a few other things. Yeah, I guess there's some stuff to keep me here long enough.

However, the recent shutdown of DN/YGOPro by some legal entity may throw a wrench in certain plans, namely me trying to test new stuff and post my decklists to be fixed.

Mind you that at one point, I quit YCM because there wasn't anything to do.

Although it probably helps that this is the only forum that I'm even on (that's active). Other one I'm on (linked to a Pokemon MMORPG) is more dead than the Requests section in Graphics.

Talk about card games, cause that's what you're supposed to be doing here mainly, and I'm good at this card game than most of y'all.

But I also can socialize and discuss about general topics and debates sometimes, though rarely now. Community is in-and-out but is better than anywhere else I know.

Uhhh okay

Well yes, most people come here just for cardmaker because it is better some others. Even I wasnt gonna bother socializing, but being alone is shitty. Events are really the funniest things here. Why dont you just host a monthly Dueling Network tournament where 50 or less members that pay a slightly large fee to enter and duel throughout the week and the next? Idk just an idea. People that place will be given great rewards that encourage people to come here and such.

I first came here just to make cards, and inevitably went on to dwell in misc and status. I...don't know why I come back. It's probably because I have had literally nothing else interesting in my life as of October last year.

I still do make cards, though, so I'm cool with that. No idea how to get involved anywhere else, but I probably should.

That's a part of YCM history forever
