VCR_CAT
Nobody uses phones for actual calls anymore. You just watch YouTube/check your emails/text eachother/etc So of course it lets you be more free. I do. It's a pretty major part of my job. It's also somewhat safer to call while driving than text if I need to.

Or put it on speakerphone, or a device that makes it more audible for you and vice versa. You know how much personality is on my phone? ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– That's it. Fusion X. Denver
There's an article about a guy who went a year without phones, or really tech for that matter, for a year. If I can find the article I'll post it here; but basically he noticed that... it's not as relinquishing as you think. If it wasn't phones, it was newspapers or books that were being used as a sort of means to distract one's self and keep others from addressing you in public spaces. Phones aren't new in the societal aspect of people wanting to close themselves off in public spaces; it's just another means to do it. Phones aren't really widening any gaps between people; and people will still find time for direct interaction whenever they need it or want it.Interesting study, and it makes sense too. I do know some people who fit the stereotype for being on their phone too much (my sister was one of those for a while), but for the most part I've never observed a phone hampering someone's interactions with the people around them. If they're on their phone when they shouldn't be, that's just part of their nature already. I have an iPhone 6S and it suits me fine. I had a 4S for many years before then, so I imagine I'll make due with this until the iPhone 9 or whatever equivalent comes out. Best times to surf it are while I'm in the john.
