I'm honestly so torn about who I want to vote for or even just support.

On one hand, I think Trump would be a much better person in office than his looks right now. I think it's entirely a clever act to gather the media's attention and collect the votes of a large and unhappy portion of the population, and once he has that, he'll have actual legitimately good interests in mind. And I recognize that it's simpply and unfortunate truth that this exploitation of the election system is more or less encouraged by the system itself. But because I don't know what those interests are, I'm wary about supporting him. Namely, while I know he's being intentionally overzealous, I can't truly tell how far-right he actually is, and I'd rather vote for a moderate Trump.

Hillary just seems like a nutjob but she's vocal about some of her ideas and positions that are potentially really good, though she's still a pretty far-left democrat which I despise. And besides the worst thing anyone seems to be able to say about her is the Bengazi scandal, which was very bad, but has not resulted in any charges, indictments or further investigations, so I'm willing to overlook that for the purposes of determining her viability as a candidate, and in that context, she doesn't scream that she'd be overall horrible. But not the best by any stretch.

Bernie is by and large out of the race. If he weren't I'd probably vote for him. His ideology is the closest to mine of any of the candidates (bar maybe Trump but again, difficult to tell) and he has an obvious ambition to make good changes for the country which I like. He's not as moderate as I would like, but being the President would likely bring him closer to the middle; it'd have to. My only worry would be that Congress would lock him out in a similar manner as they did Obama, and prevent the changes he pushes that would actually be beneficial. This is especially more likely with him than with Hillary because he's already somewhat of an outsider, being a vocal social democrat, which I understand and agree with or at least respect, but many confuse with "scarier" ideas.

Out of the three candidates in the poll, Bernie's the one I like the most. Right now, he's technically beaten by votes, but at least the guy has guts to stay in until the end.

Clinton has a few screws loose (especially factoring in some trust issues regarding her email server thing), but some of her ideas are fine in the long run. Right now, trust is an issue. She does have experience with foreign affairs, but there are some things to keep in mind about her.

While I do agree with Trump's statements that we need to keep ISIS/Daesh out of this country (and curb terrorism) among other things, there are some factors that make me hesitant on voting him at this time, including his general brashness and some recent statements.

I admit though that I'm not really thrilled with the inability for Congress/Senate to get their sheet together and try to fix this country with things we really need to pass.

In all fairness, I'd like a president who can get things done in DC and not screw up our relationship with our allies (by extension, not exacerbate any tensions with countries who aren't friendly towards us). Ideally, get a president who can make the legislature get their act together and actually DO things to address issues in this country, including the mass shootings that happen nearly daily and various other things, including terror attacks.

As for the second question, mostly to put people who are actually going to do sheet into office and people who I think can do a good job, given their plans and background overall. But yeah, keeping people out is also something to consider. Recall when Trump and Cruz were the Republican candidates; I hate the hell out of the latter, and if I had to vote between either of them, Trump would get it.

To be fair though, I didn't vote in the 2012 election due to being a couple weeks underage on Election Day (wouldn't turn 18 for another 11 days or so); if I were of age, I would've voted.
