YCM Ritual Ruling Question

mr. waifu

Question

When designing a Ritual Spell Card for a Ritual monster during competitions, does it have to be an actual Ritual Spell Card, or can it be like a Trap, Monster or even different type or Spell Card?

Also, does a Ritual monster even have to have a Ritual Spell Card, or can it be optional, if necessary?

If a CC competition specifies that you design a Ritual Spell Card for a Ritual Monster, you should design a Ritual Spell Card. You could also just ask for clarification from whoever wrote those specifications. To answer your question though, a Ritual Monster does not have to be Ritual Summoned with an actual Ritual Spell Card. You can use any card effect that can Ritual Summon that monster.

There is currently no Ritual Monster in the TCG/OCG that doesn't have a corresponding card that Ritual Summons it, but there should be no problem with making a Ritual Monster that doesn't have one because it would still function fine.

Although this question isn't so much of a rulings one, you should post questions on rulings in the Rulings Questions thread.

This is basically on CC policies.

1. It should be a Ritual Spell Card, BUT we have Amorphactor Psycho/Pain who breaks that with Persona. (I will assume you know what Psycho is/does).

2. Let's say you make another Nekroz or Cyber Angel monster; as they already have Ritual Spells that summon them, you don't need to provide them in Custom Cards. However, if yours is not tied to anything, you should provide one otherwise.

In terms of Psycho (I don't think there are other Rituals that currently break that trend), you can still use something like Advent / Earth Chant to do it.
