Yu-Gi-Oh! Rulings Questions

Recommended Posts

I know that, and so I did, gaining back my monster for an Extra Normal, didn't allow me to Normal though.

EDIT: Oh, I see, you mean activating for the Normal Summon. I see that now, I didn't before. But, then why is the wording on it on (You can only gain this effect once per turn), when other cards with that don't EVER allow other Normals. Or is that wrong as well?

Because Kerkyon isn't the same kind of effect.

It's not an extra Normal Summon. It's an effect that Normal Summons.

Think Ultimate Offering.

Ultimate doesn't say (You can only gain this effect once per turn), which would make sense how it can do it multiple times, and so with the Hunder family, however according to Devpro, it does have that. Isn't' there others which also activate and have (You can only gain this effect once per turn) on them?

Didn't Black already tell you that only referred to the 1 less tribute for a tribute summon effect? :/

Here's the copy paste of what Devpro tells me: "During your Main Phase, if you used this effect this turn: You can Normal Summon 1 "lswarm" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn)." Then it goes to tell about the Tribute part. Now, that said, it doesn't have the "you can only gain this effect once per turn" in the Tribute part, which probably mean that they put it the wrong place by accident, and if that's the case, it would make sense the way you people have made it out.

One thing to mention Zazubat is that cards that Normal Summon do not stack that use the phrase "in addition to your Normal Summon or Set".  The words "as an additional Normal Summon" is not sufficient.

Based on the Japanese text, I believe Devpro is wrong since it does not state that it can only be used once nor that it is in addition to your Normal Summon or Set

Can A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon be activated with no Spells or Traps on the field?

You cannot activate cards whose effects cannot be attempted.  If there are no Spell/Trap cards on the field to be destroyed, you cannot attempt to apply the effect to "destroy all Spell/Trap cards" and therefore cannot activate the effect.

Spell/Trap cards do not consider themselves as legal targets for their own destruction effects are not affected by them.

For example,  You cannot activate Heavy Storm if that Heavy Storm is the only Spell/Trap Card on the field.  When legally activating Heavy Storm to destroy other Spell/Trap Cards, Heavy Storm is NOT destroyed by its own effect.  While Heavy Storm cannot be destroyed by its own effect, MST could be chained to destroy it instead (also that MST cannot target itself as another example).

On an unrelated note, that issue with Bujin Emperor - Susano-o,  in WC11, an Elemental Hero Wildedge with Shooting Star Bow - Ciel equipped could NOT attack directly and attack a monster in any order of that turn.

I would believe the reasoning is simply that its Continous Effect is still optional in the sense that "You can" attack each monster.  By attacking directly first, then you chose NOT to attack each monster.

This is more of a gameplay question. For the "Number C" xyz monsters, can you overlay them for their counterparts even if it doesn't say so in their text? For example, NumberC39: Utopia Ray specifically says you can use the regular Utopia. Does the same go for the other versions of Utopia Ray that are gonna be released? And for all other types of "Number C" monsters? Thanks

It says "by using a 'Number 39: Utopia".  It is not written to including any card with a name other than "Number 39: Utopia".

If I understand this right, it seems you're asking if you can just overlay Utopia for Utopia Ray V or Ray Victory (or similar situations). The answer is no, To upgrade Utopia or utopia Ray into either Ray V or Ray Victory, you need a Rank-Up-Magic card, like Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force.

I believe the answer would be no. I think this because it doesnt remember that you Normal Summoned Phantom of Chaos after you use it's effect, for it has never been that card. Or maybe I'm off here, Ill do more digging when I have a good connection.

Question: Does Vivit Knight have to be face-up for the monster to return during the End Phase?

If I summon Phantom of Chaos

Acitivate effect, target lswarm Castor

Do I gain Castor's effect?

It stated: "During the turn this card was Normal Summoned..."

Well, it depends on what the TCG thinks about it.  Some of you may know where I stand on the whole Naturia Bamboo thing.  A card does not forget how it was summoned simply because it was negated.  As it should be, if Naturia Bamboo was Tribute Summoned via Tributing a Naturia monster, then even if temporarily negated, it will regain its effects after the negation wears off.  This is because "If this card was Tribute Summoned by Tributing a Naturia Monster" is a Condition for the Continuous Effect.  It is not something like "When this card is Fusion Summoned, it gains X attack" or something like that (as those effects are not Continuous Effects in any way).

In regards to this,  My belief would be that Yes, you can apply the Continuous Effect of Evilswarm Castor when its effect is transferred to Phantom Of Chaos because "This Card" (Phantom of Chaos) was indeed Normal Summoned that turn.

Edit: Trying it out in WC11, a Phantom of Chaos that was flipped face-up and then gains the effect of Karakuri Ninja mdl 339 "Sazank" was able to attack directly that turn.  Although it is known the games can be right or wrong, I would believe they are 98% correct and give it the benefit of the doubt.  The Video Games are also OCG ruled, so again it depends on what the TCG thinks about it.

I already don't trust Devpro from the previous issue with it.

Well that was just a translation error, it works like it should, and it was mostly my fault for not knowning how it works. If you don't trust it, try out some other Rulings, you'll see that it's correct 99% of the time. And that said, the games are not perfect either, and that's what Devpro is based on, at least the Yu-Gi-Oh Online I think it was that it was based on.

So on Devpro it seems that the translation for Evilswarm Kerykeion is that you only gain that effect once per turn (As it is with Castor as well) which means that you can only gain 1 extra NS that turn, and sure enough that's how it works when playing too...

If that's the case, then Devpro would be wrong.

I was watching a couple of guys dueling. And this came across the duel...

-Player A: Summons Jinzo

-Player B: Vieler on Jinzo when summoned, then Bottomless Jinzo as a Chain to Vieler's effect

Is that even possible?

Veiler doesn't resolve until everything has been chained, you can't activate any Trap Cards at all until Jinzo is negated and once Veiler negates Jinzo there's no chance to respond with Bottomless anymore.

Is it right that I have to go through every single phase, and can't just directly jump to the End Phase after Main Phase 1? Can I also jump from Standby Phase to End Phase, or do I have to go to Main Phase first?

So, I have Yamato out, and it's the End Phase, my opponent chooses to activate a card that would destroy it, but is it me that is first so I can activate Yamato's effect before the destroy?

Okay I have 2 questions that are bugging me.

If my opp. declares an atk & I use compulse, if say he negates it with Shien, can I chain with mirror force?

At resolution of Madolche Tieramisu eff. can my opp. chain to it?

To question one, no you cannot do that, you get one chance, if you don't use it there, then your chance is gone. If it was the other way around, it would be a whole other story. About question 2, do you mean that your opponent would chain something to the shuffling when that happens? That can't happen, you can never Chain during resolution, at least not as far as I'm aware of.

He can chain Mirror Force to Shi En. It's still in response to the attack as the whole chain is in response to the attack.
