Yu-Gi-Oh! Rulings Questions

Recommended Posts

One last thing, if you change a monster's name via a card effect (like "Hero Mask" or "Elemental Hero Prisma") then yes, the new name will work with any cards that work when having that monster name on the field. If I use "Elemental Hero Prisma" to change its name to "Dark Magician", then I can use cards like "Dark Magic Attack" with that Prisma since it is currently named "Dark Magician".

I think he means if a card effect were to change the name of the monster, or add the name to it's name.

Which is still a yes.

That's exactly what I meant. If you're curious, it's a Field Spell that starts with "Add "Chimeratech" to the beginning of the names of all face-up Machine-Type monsters you control."

Anyway, question answered. Thanks.

Well, what you're trying to do is different than what I was referring to, but yes, I suppose you can have an effect that says "All Machine-Type monsters you control are treated as "Chimeratech" monsters" and it would work for the sake of what you're trying to do.

All of the Atlanteans that activate when sent to the Graveyard for a WATER monsters effect activate in a new chain than the effects that caused them to be discarded.

Thanks, that clears up a lot. I guess waiting for the English release of ABYR is the best that can be done for the wordings, and adhering to whatever dn picks until then.

The people that run DN do a very good job on all effects and wordings. And even so, nothing of what I said will be changed.

They also tend to follow all the other translations around the web and figure it out.

If they weren't sure on the effects they probably wouldn't post them. I know very well how AsherPotter feels about the whole Lightpulsar incident.

I activated Rekindling, and my opponent supposedly chained with Veiler to negate Stardust's effect, then activated Dark Bribe. Is that even possible?

Dark Bribe can only be chained to a Spell/Trap Card the opponent activated. They cannot chain Dark Bribe to attempt to negate their own Veiler as the effect was not activated by the opponent, nor is it a Spell/Trap Card.

If they want to use Dark Bribe to negate Rekindling, then they need to directly chain it to Rekindling. Anything else is incorrect.

That's what I thought. I didn't need to do anything, anyways, since I had enough ATK on the field to take them out (and then I knew I didn't need to use its effect for like Mirror Force), but they still insisted they could make the move. I figured since the last thing that happened wasn't the activation of a Spell/Trap, it wouldn't work.

My guess is he thought Stardust could negate Dark Bribe? Cause it can't.

Depression on all sides for that dude.

I'm judging an event for the first time tomorrow, and there's a couple of simple rulings I really should know-

Does Barbaros keep 3k attack if the card negating it leaves the field and it stops being negated?

Do cards like Lightpulsar/Shining miss timing when sent to the grave with a card with a mandatory effect eg Sangan?

If Hornet equipped to Dragonfly destroys another equip equipped to Dragonfly, does Dragonfly get 2 summons?

Can Dolkka negate-

Flip Effects?

Cards that trigger when destroyed in battle?

Ima just throw this out here because I can.

If you run over a Ryko, you have to use Forbidden Chalice right when its flipped up, if you wait until its effect activates, you can't.

If you have Flame Tiger in your Graveyard and no cards in your Deck, can you skip your normal draw and avoid a Deck Out?

No. As "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" is ruled, you cannot choose to perform another action instead if you can't perform the original action. Since you cannot draw due to having no cards, then you cannot give up your draw to do something else. With zero cards, you will lose the duel.
