Yu-Gi-Oh! Rulings Questions

Recommended Posts

My friend uses Tuner's Scheme on an opponents Stardust. They end up filling their feild up, than proceded to destroy Tuner's Scheme (He wanted to Monster Reborn his stardust), is the monster RFP'd by Scheme's effect or since it cannot switch back control does it just get sent to the Graveyard?

^ This actually happened to my friend, they just decided to send it to the Graveyard.

It attempts to go back and is destroyed by the game state.

Mirror Force does not target because its effect does not specifically designate a monster. Upon being triggered, it clears ALL opponent's ATK position monsters. Sakuretsu Armor and Dimensional Prison specifically destroy/remove "the attacking monster".

For the Prisma -> Time Wizard question, the answer is no. Prisma was named "Ehero Prisma" when it activated its effect. No "Time Wizard" activated its effect. The name change occurred at resolution, which does not count as a successful activation of "Time Wizard's" effect. At this time, there is no way to bypass Dark Sage's necessity for Time Wizard.

A variation to Bringer's question:

If Elemental Hero - Prisma uses its effect to reveal Thousand Dragon and change its name to "Time Wizard", is this counted as the successful activation of the effect of a "Time Wizard" on the field for the purposes of Dark Sage?

i dont think so. prisma just changed its name to "Time Wizard".. Time Wizard's Effect was never activated

At the risk of sounding like a nub, if I attack directly with Doomcaliber Knight and my opponent activates Battle Fader, after Doomcaliber Knight sacks itself to negate the effect, will the damage go through? Or will it not because it all happens before the damage step?

No.

Hopeless Dragon vs Zombie Monarch:

PLAYER A has a ROYAL OPPRESSION face-up, it is PLAYER B'S End Phase and he has a RED-EYES WYVERN and a RED-EYES DARKNESS METAL DRAGON IN THE GRAVE, he did not normal summon this turn...

which is correct:

PLAYER B attempts to special summon RED-EYES DARKNESS METAL DRAGON by activating RED-EYES WYVERN's effect removing it from the grave, PLAYER A pays 800 LP to negate this and he can not special summon RED-EYES D. M. D.

PLAYER B attempts to special summon RED-EYES DARKNESS METAL DRAGON by activating RED-EYES WYVERN's effect and selects RED EYES DARKNESS METAL, PLAYER A negates this and since it's still the End Phase PLAYER B tries again to activate WYVERN's effect turning the situaion into a Loop that ends when PLAYER A cannot pay anymore LP or simply allows PLAYER B to special summon RED-EYES D. M. D.

Can I use the Effect of DD Warrior Lady and Desperate Tag as a result of the same attack?

Yes. You activate Desperate Tag during Damage Calculation to reduce the battle damage to 0. After Damage Calculation, you activate D.D. Warrior Lady to remove both cards from play. Then at the end of the Damage Step, you Special Summon 1 Level 4 Warrior-type monster from your hand.

The way to figure this out is by asking yourself "Is removing Red-Eyes Wyvern a cost for activating its effect?". Yes, removing it is indeed a cost, so therefore Red-Eyes Wyvern will be removed from play when its effect is activated. If you negate it, Red-Eyes Wyvern is still removed from play, so they cannot activate it again.

Can double cyclone target itself to be destroyed?

No, you cannot. While it is a valid card on the field that can be destroyed (at least by other cards), you cannot target itself for destruction. It would be like activating Mystical Space Typhoon and targeting itself, which you cannot do either (even though it can be targeted and be destroyed by other cards, even by another Mystical Space Typhoon, not that you would do that).

Can Stardust Dragon negate Ekibyo Drakmord?

No. You cannot negate it when Ekibyo Drakmord is activated as it does not destroy at activation. It cannot be negated after the 2nd turn as this would be the Continuous Effect of the already resolved Ekibyo Drakmord, so it does not create a chain that Stardust Dragon can negate.

if my ANCIENT GEAR BEAST attacks a face-down BLAST SPHERE, SPHERE's effect is negated and sent to the graveyard?

No, because when attacking a face-down Blast Sphere, Damage Calculation does not take place and therefore it was not destroyed by battle.

Ancient Gear Beast attacks. You enter the Damage Step and Blast Sphere is flipped face up. At this point, after revealing that it is Blast Sphere, it equips itself to Ancient Gear Beast. There is no Damage Calculation (as written on the card) and therefore, Ancient Gear Beast does not destroy it by battle.
