Yu-Gi-Oh! Rulings Questions

Recommended Posts

Yes.

Really?

Because I dueled some guy yesterday and he attacked my SDDAM and activated Shrink at the damage step. He argued that shrink becomes Lv3 speed spell. Is that true?

No' date=' only Counter Traps are ever Spell Speed 3 -.- Most things can't activate in the damage step.

Things that can:

Things that change ATK/DEF

Counter Traps

Monster Effects that negate things.

Things Konami says work in the damage step.

Mandatory effects.

Ok, but what I want to know is if Shrink is activated at the Damage Step, does it become Speed Spell 3 or does it stay Speed Spell 2?

Please read the post you respond to.

lol alright.

So I'm guessing the bolded states that spell speed lvs cannot change?

As it is forbidden to use Japanese cards in European contests' date=' how about e.g. German cards?

[/quote']

it is generaly not allowed.

Not usually, certain tournaments are cool with it (my locals are fine with it :D) but generally they're frowned upon.

In Traditional.

I activated Crush Card Virus the turn before.

My opponent draw Dark Magician of Chaos while he has Destiny Hero - Dasher in the Graveyard, does Crush destroy DMOC before it can be summoned with Dasher? or is it the other way round.

O.O, -.- >.<.

I don't know this one. damn.

I think it gets killed off by the crush effect since it's mandatory, while dasher's effect is opitional, but they might chain, but I don't know.

Crush Card Virus would take effect before the person even gets the opportunity to use Dasher's effect. As soon as he draws the card, Crush Card Virus checks it immediately before any other such optional effect can activate. It should also supersede any mandatory effects currently on the field that would trigger to a card being drawn. If there were two lingering effects which trigger at the same time, i figure order is handed in the normal "turn player's effect are chosen before opponent's effects" fashion.

hey' date=' if you equip "Armor Breaker" to "Amazoness Swordwoman" and you attack a monster with her that has an ATK higher than her, both destroying her and inflicting damage by her effect, can you still get "Armor Breaker" ability and destroy a card?

[/quote']

The timing of the effect would be directly after Damage Calculation, before the monsters that were destroyed by battle are sent from the Field to the Graveyard.

The problem that lies here is "When does Armor Breaker's effect that states 'If the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle, this card is destroyed instead.' come into play. Monsters are considered destroyed during Damage Calculation. The second problem is the "While equipped to a monster by this effect..." condition (this is the main issue here).

I tested this (i looked into it much further than i should have, I thought Armor Breaker's effect to sacrifice itself was optional but it is Mandatory). Because Armor Breaker destroys itself to save Amazoness Swordswoman during Damage Calculation, it no longer has its effect due to not being equipped to Amazoness Swordswoman anymore and you will NOT destroy a card with Armor Breaker's effect.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

Depends. Some tourneys allow cards in othe languages than english, but if so, you must bring translations of effects. Check your tournaments rules for more info. Also, you can't use japanese cards that are not released in TCG, so for example if tourney allow japanese cards, you can use japanese Archlord Kristya, but you can't, for example, Dragonic Tactics.

Amazoness Swordswoman's effect that forces your opponent to take the Battle Damage you would've taken is still considered Battle Damage, not Effect Damage. If Amazoness Swordswoman battles and would not be destroyed due to another effect such as Mist Body, Waboku, etc, then Armor Breaker would not sacrifice itself, will still be equipped to Amazoness Swordswoman after Damage Calculation and can successfully activate its effect.

So the effect damage is considered dealt by Swordswoman and not the opponent's monster? You sure?

You bring up a good point, but yes, the Battle Damage dealt to the opponent through this effect is Battle Damage Amazoness Swordswoman is inflicting to the opponent, not damage your opponent is inflicting on itself. This is still not Effect Damage, it is Battle Damage. The game calculates the difference, but the opponent is the one to take the damage regardless, so the game considers this as Amazoness Swordswoman inflicting Battle Damage to the Opponent.

Honest activates in Damage Step.

Limiter activates before the Damage Step.

Limiter can't activate when Honest does.

and even if you did chain limiter' date=' they would still win.
