cr47t
[spoiler=My own two cents]I think human extinction will probably not happen for a long time, if ever. Other forms of earth life are subject to the mercy of nature, but man has been able to shape it's own course and, especially now, often is able to take the offensive on nature. (with the way people deforests, burns up the oil reserves, etc. personally I think we should refrain form that but that's a whole different topic.) My guess is that we can keep our dominance up for a while, if not forever. Discuss.

Ryusei the Morning Star
we'll drive ourselves extinct if we keep killing the earth like this. Human extinction is likely going to be human based, especially when the 3D printing stuff comes around and we can "print" Ebola like the video suggested. We're too violent of a race for us to grow at this rate. And we're too divided to look at the big picture.
vla1ne
humans could feasibly wipe themselves off much of the map, but humans would be the hardest species to kill due to how swiftly we can understand and adapt to situations. not saying it's impossible, especially if it's human engineered extinction, but humans (for the most part) possess enough intelligence to work for survival under worse conditions than most extinction level events can bring about. we could definitely get dropped a couple billion, but extinct? not likely. epicmemesbro
Eventually humans will go extinct. Our sun is gradually using up hydrogen in its core and will resort to using helium which will cause it to expand. By then the Earth will be "closer" to it to the point that water boils, leaving earth uninhabitable. Also the Earth's core will eventually become rock and cool down. This means our magnetic field that protects us from the sun's rays will no longer exist. On top of that the Moon is gradually getting closer to Earth. THe gravity will cause the moon to rip apart, similar to Saturn's rings, which were once moons that were to close to it. However Earth isn't big enough to have rings, which will cause the moon's remains to cover the Earth, reducing the sunlight we get. To make matters worse, our galaxy is going to merge with Andromeda, increasing the chance of collision with another celestial body. I don't know how humans will get themselves out of these situations, granted a lot of these events will happen billions of years from now.
Aerion Brightflame
The Sun expanding isn't due for several billion years yet. Pretty sure all of those other events are on similar time-frames. The Human races survival will be decided long before then. Nuclear Holocaust is the greatest threat to human survival currently that's actually predictable. Antibiotic resistance viruses will do a lot of harm, but not extinction level, societal meltdown will just cause us to restructure rather than outright die. Maybe smallpox could work if it were a series of massive simultaneous attacks, and a virus modified to be more lethal. Global Warming could cause something catastrophic but it's unlikely to wipe us out. Nuclear Holocaust on the other hand kills massive amounts of us, rips the ecosystem apart and poisons vast swathes of the Earth at the same time. Which is kinda what we need. But we could technically survive that in small portions since we can still grow crops and the like in the absence of sunlight or clear air. We are actually pretty damn hard to wipe out. ♪ ♪Aria ♪ ♪
Even when an asteroid crashed into earth, we could still survive, but the main possibility of extinction is not from the nature, since human can overcome many difficult situations, like the World Wars, which ends in peace and can improve technology to prevent loss But technology is the main intriguing thing, since AC's, Cars and Factories are polluting the environment and destroying our own barricade, the atmosphere, little by little, if we keep on doing this, then after 200 years, it will be totally destroyed and could cause the apocalypse, where humans will pay for the price, but by then, there will already be space colonies and mechanized humans.....
