Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

I've never been so hype and afraid at the same time. This year? I was legit expecting next year at the least. Either Xenoverse 1 really was a 60$ demo and they literally went straight into development and worked non-stop for Xenoverse 2, OR we're about to be majorly disappointed.

I definitely prefer BT3 over B3. Full 3D just feels so much better for DBZ than 2D. There's dozens of other 2D games you can be playing for over competitive play instead of wishing for Budokai 4 or BL 2, but I digress. That being said, I'm just going to name off my gripes with XV1 and desires (or hopes rather) for XV2.

The only thing I didn't like about XV1 was the lack of menu, characters, and so-so character creation (including moves and transformations). I feel like a lot of notes need to be taken from Dragon Ball Heroes in terms of customization and story. Local Battle could have been a little better as well, I think RB did this better.

Humans are a bit bland tbh, I think it should be removed for Android and Kai Race, or just use all three for player preference. But all races do need some sort of transformation for balancing, in DBH it's called Class-Up, Super Class-Up, and God Class-Up. For Saiyans it allows them to go Ssj2, Ssj3, and Ssj God (respectively). For other races it gives them a power up/appearance change. Doing this should also let you customize forms/clothes for non-Saiyans.

They can't be afraid to use what-if characters. In a game with a story like this anything can happen, and they REALLY need to take advantage of that. I want to see interesting characters like Super 17 (18 Absorbed), Baby Hatchiyack (which makes a lot of sense), Buu (Babadi Absorbed), to name a few DBH has done. We know the Dragon Ball Story, we've only played through it 10 billion times.

Well, the good news is is that we'll see Dumplin ride once more.

If Team Four Star does a Let's Play of This(WHICH THEY SHOULD), I'll be all over that sheet.

Real Talk, though: While this DOES look cool, I most likely will not have any of the necessary systems for it, so I'll just be restricted to back-seat gaming/watching Let's Plays. Which is fine by me, to be perfectly honest.

I'm just wondering what they could do here that they didn't do in Xenoverse 1.

Well, one of the big things I disliked bout Xenoverse 1 was that it was just DBZ, and Broly, Bardock, couple pf others. But it looks we'll be seeing movie characters here (which I'm done for) and if we see Cooler, they may actually make transformation for the Frezia race. I feel all races should have transformations, tbh, Saiyans go SS maybe Nameks can go giant and Frezia clanners can do Cooler's thing. Not sure what humans or Majins could do though....

Another thing I'd like is us being able to see alternate timelines, besides one just referenced in those sidequests. I'd also like to see more of ones where we have to make tough decisions to sustain the timeline, like that sidequest where you had to help 17 and 18 kill the Z fighters. When you think about, it was pretty freaking dark. I mean, maybe the Future Warrior defends the main timeline, and we defend funky off-shots.

I'd also like more mentors please, and more individual moves, not just moves used by other characters.

My biggest want may to have alternate endings, as we may end up dealing with a volatile timeline where we can have an impact on how it ends, e.g. in the Nappa level, if Yamcha doesn't die he ends on Namek with you later, or something AU like that.

Of course. How could I forget, the horrid amount of grinding in XV1. You can add that to my list of dislikes. I'm no completionist, so certain quests just annoyed the hell outta me and are not worth trying to get an S on. Like Find the Dragonball Quests & Fight. Like really? I thought this was a fighting game.

Glad I skipped the first XV in light of this news. If people respond positively towards this, I'll get it.

Don't see too many incentives to not be a saiyan judging from what people here are saying though.

It's really up in the air at this point as far as what's been improved and what hasn't. A lot of people made the defense that last gen consoles held the game back both in graphics and features (the latter sounds like BS imo). But if that's true then this game will have no excuse.

As far as Xenoverse 1 goes, I guess you could say that. Though I did enjoy playing as a Majin and backhanding Saiyan Noobs online.

I've already said what my expectations are, I'll just believe in Dimps.

The grinding for levels and completion weren't terribly bad, in my opinion, but then again I do get off on getting maximum scores on that sort of thing. The real bad thing was the drop rate for items and moves in sidequests. It fet like I repeated some quests over 50 times to get a pacticualr Z-Soul or move., which wasn't fun.

Oh when I meant grinding I meant for Item Drops. I should've specified. There were some quests I got Ss and Zs on multiple times and no good drops. Which is very disappointing. If you get a Z, most if not all possible items should drop.

As far as leveling goes, once you get Quest 53 I think (The Giant Apes) you're good to go. All you have to do is pick Burter and use Blue hurricane repeatedly. You can even beat them all alone with a level 1 Burter to easily raise another character.

  • 3 weeks later...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiJ2C9FpSXo

In summary:

  • The game is including most if not all Movie Characters (Broly, Hatchiyack, Cooler, etc). And their stories will play out, or be portrayed, differently.
  • More Online features will be added, probably to ensure a more long-term experience. This also includes Online Events and Quest you can take part in with friends.
  • There will be probably little Dragon Ball Super content. They apparently had the overall new content and features for the game down by the time Super aired. Meaning the game, or the basis for it, was more or less done around July 5th 2015; that's like 5 months? So they did go straight into development for the next game after XV1. Also remember we didn't even get a REAL new character, excluding Champa and Vados, from Super until January/February 2016.
  • The Hub City, Conton City, is 7 times larger than Toki Toki City. Keep in mind you WILL be able to run and fly around the city.
  • And it looks like you'll be able to carry over your XV1 character? If you have XV1 Save Data. Your previous character will also cameo in various locations and can be included as a plot point in the story? I feel like they were a little vague with this part, will I play with my carried over character, or am I transferring him just to cameo? Either way, as someone who played on PS3, guess I'm just SOL.

Masayuki Hirano, the game's Producer, had interviews with Siliconera and RPGSite and revealed a little more information here and there about the game.

Customization: New clothes, skills, and etc will be added, and in regards to clothing, a new system will be implemented to allow players to have the stats they want while also looking the way they want. However unfortunately there won't be any new races, but they will be expanding upon the ones we do have.

So for clothes, maybe like DCUO's system, or maybe something new with the Presets in XV1?

Combat: They have not only taken Super/Utimate spam into consideration, but the concerns of Competitive and Casual Fighting Gamers, and have done a few tweaks in these regards. Moves and Ki will also be tweaked so people will be using different moves throughout the game and online. For Runners (people who run away until time runs out), they added something called a Reverse/Burst Dash, that lets you move straight for the opponent, I think you can see some of that in the Promo/E3 video with Turles vs. Future Gohan. They also added a Stamina Break so opponent won't just teleport all the time and avoid your combos. Hitbox Detection will also be improved.

So Super Saiyans probably won't have unlimited Ki anymore or maybe they just added something to make it less spammy?

Gameplay: Along with Conton City being larger and able to hold over 300+ people, we will also be able to visit a few other locations like Frieza's Spaceship and Planet Namek. RNG will return but with adjustments, making it easier to get costumes and items. They want players to move more towards Online Matches without feeling unprepared because they don't have the right equipment.

They're not going into too much detail about the story, they're really stubborn about that, but it is pretty much confirmed we will be able to change certain events such as saving Future Gohan and Bardock (being the advertised events). Hirano stated "We want players to feel this inner conflict because their mission is to return the history back to normal, but there are outcomes in the Dragon Ball story you wish were different. We want players to feel that inner conflict between what they have to do and what they want to do."

Dragon Ball Super Content may or may not be included into the game, but maybe DLC down the road. It takes almost a month for them to make a character.

If you couldn't tell from my continuous posts in thread, I'm brimming with hope and excitement for this game.
