Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss

Recommended Posts

HotRedDragonArchfiendAbyss-HSRD-EN-UR-1E

1 Tuner + 1 non-Tuner DARK Dragon-Type Synchro Monster

During either player's turn: You can target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; negate its effects until the end of this turn. When this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can target 1 Tuner monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it in Defense Position. You can only use each effect of "Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss" once per turn.

early 3200

Card is actually the nuts, now that there's a non-garbage way to get it out and a good tuner to revive. Being able to revive the tuner is arguably the best part of the card, with the opt negate being a cherry on top of a 3200 that goes +.

is Bane worth it?

going +2 on something that doesnt really do anything else but revive this?

idk, i don't think bane's worth it. It always seemed way weaker than this, especially when you're going to run out of tuners after 0-1 use of Bane.

This, however, does a lot.

You're making this using Wyvern + Unizombie?

wyvern is FIRE, sadly

There are a fair few scenarios where it's entirely possible to drop. never costs more than "1" card.

Sage in hand + Sword in Grave.

Scapeghost in hand with Sword + Sage in Grave.

Sage + Mezuki + Sword in Grave.

And more, though those three are the most prominent.

  1. NS Sage/NS Scapeghost/Use Mezuki
  2. Sage into Scapeghost, if needed.
  3. Sword + Sage = 6.
  4. Sage revives banished Sword.
  5. Sword + 6 = S/H/RDA
  6. (X)RDA + Scapeghost = Abyss

Sooooo does that mean Scapeghost is actually being used successfully?
If so, that makes me really, really happy.

It HAD to be useful at some point. That negation effect is definitely worth it, and this card is more generic and easy to drop than similar effects out there such as Contrast HERO. The Tuner revival effect is a great bonus, but I think it's mostly just that, a bonus.

early 3200

I gave you 10 Reps, to get you closer to that.

Cuz I could =D

To be fair, this applies to many cards. I mean, as long as something is playable in a, preferred, resourceful manner, then by all means it isn't terrible O,o

Oh, this is in context of Shiranui? Uh yeah, ignore Bane then.

Well, yes. I'm not playing the RDA build, but shiranui is easily the best RDA.dek, due to the ease of shitting out 8s + tuners.

in general use there's really little point to bother with bane outside perhaps themed deck anyway, as the biggest thing it brings is the extra big body for damage if you already have summoned Abyss/summoned it using Abyss.

Tried thinking it through.

If you have:

Mezuki, Mezuki, Sage, Sword

in the bin, you can go:

Mezuki revive sage, sack for Scapeghost

Sage + sword = 6

Sword + 6 = (X)RDA

Mezuki res sword, RDA + Sword = Bane

NS w/e

Bane sacks the NS, gets RDA

RDA + Scapeghost = Abyss

but it seems unwieldy for a tight ED slot

Remind me, is Tyrant very doable in Shiranui?

Abyss here being a mini-Quasar is nasty, especially when he can float stuff.

Sword + Uni (4) + any 4

Sword + Uni (3) + Seraphi

Scapeghost + Uni (5) + Seraphi

It's doable, just not incredibly worth it once I realized the deck wants sword setup more than Mezuki setup, though obv both is optimal, which this lets you do.

I ask just because Tyrant can clear the board to go for game, which does give it more utility than Bane just recycling stuff.

it's a huge pain when your only option is to castel the card

Faster than a speeding solemn! More powerful than a Dark Hole! Able to leap over all protection in a single bound

Voices: Look, at the Field! It's a spell! It's a quick-play! It's Superpoly!

Announcer: Yes, it's Superpoly, strange visitor from another format

So the Red Dragon Archfiend name is still intact. Still makes me wonder why they did it for Hot Red and not Stardust Spark.

Because "Stardust" can reasonably an archetype... And there are "Stardust" cards that aren't this.

OCG has the archetype as "Red Daemon's", but the name order is different here. As such, the archetype became "Red Dragon Archfiend".

Stardust lacks this issue, and actually has a small bit of groundwork for it, such as Xiaolong, Phantom, and Shimmer.

also spark stardust dragon sounds dumb
