Hot Rod revealed in robot form for Transformers 5

The hero of 1986ā€™s animated movie The Transformers: The Movie is finally making an appearance in the live-action version.

Director Michael Bay in his latest teaser for Transformers: The Last Knight has confirmed the appearance of the Autobot Hot Rod.

This time, though, Bay revealed the character in robot form, whereas previous characters, apart from Optimus Prime, were all revealed in their respective vehicle modes.

Bay didnā€™t state what model will serve as Hot Rodā€™s vehicle mode but some obvious clues give away its identity. The headlights mounted to his chest and engine on his back confirm that Hot Rod will be transforming into Lamborghiniā€™s Centenario.

In a description, Bay said Hot Rod stands about 16 feet tall and is a close ally of Bumblebee, who in the new movie will used a modified sixth-generation Camaro as his vehicle mode. Some of the other Transformers will include Combaticons leader Onslaught, as well as Barricade and Drift.

Transformers: The Last Knight is the fifth installment of the live-action movies and thought to be the last to be directed by Bay. Itā€™s meant to take place directly after the events of the fourth movie, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and will see the return of characters played by Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel. Its scheduled for release on June 23, 2017.

Reports have come in via Mashable that Liam Garrigan, the British actor who plays King Arthur in ABC's Once Upon a Time, is in talks to play the same role in the upcoming Transformers 5, Transformers: The Last Knight.

Ā

Aside from Once Upon a Time, you may also be familiar with the 34-year-old English actor for his roles in TV series Spotless, 24: Live Another Day and mini-series The Pillars of the Earth.

Ā

If word becomes official, Garrigan will join Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Isabela Moner, Laura Haddock, Jerrod Carmichael and Sir Anthony Hopkins (yes, the movie actually has a real life knight starring in it!) in the film, as well as Santiago Cabrera who is set to play Merlin.

Ā

Michael Bay will once again return as director for Transformers 5, which looks set to at least include parts of the story of King Arthur legend, with King Arthur, Merlin and Excalibur. JoBlo reported back in June that the plot will allegedly center around Optimus Prime finding his home planet of Cybertron is now a dead planet, something he was inadvertently responsible for. However, Optimus Prime discovers he can revive the planet with the help of Excalibur, which he must return to Earth to find.

Ā

While the concept might seem farfetched, it's actually not the first time Transformers has touched on the Arthurian legend. The first was during the second season of the TV series The Transformers in 1985, with an episode titled "A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court."

Ā

The episode focused on the Transformers being transported back to 543 A.D, where the Decepticons agree to help out Sir Wigend du Blackthorne and his knights, while the Autobots fight on the side of Sir Aetheling and his men. After some help from a wizard named Beorht, the Autobots manage to triumph over the Decepticons, and later they are all lead back to the time portal to travel back to the present. The episode itself didn't draw much from the legend of King Arthur, except that there is a character called Princess Nimue (also known as the Lady of the Lake)
