Logging in, password reset and performance issues

Devlin Crow

Question

Hi all, signed up many years ago and have returned :D

Anyway, here are some issues:

- Creating an account just hangs and the account is not created, if not for me remembering my details I would be unable to access the site.

- Password reset took about 10 minutes for the email to arrive, this isn't a big problem except for the fact that the links didn't work and the password was not in fact reset (I managed to guess my original password).

- Forum is slow in general, runs fine for a bit then hangs really badly.

- Pokemon Card Maker and MTG Card Maker sites are giving SQL errors.

I have experience working with SQL and it looks like this could be fixed if the main dev(?) or whoever looks after the server-sided stuff could have a look :)

Either way they do need fixing!

1. This problem has been existing for quite a while, so we know about it. Apparently you can still register via Twitter or something.

2. If you need your pass to be reset, you can always just PM a moderator to redo it for you if the links don't work.

3. Nothing we can really do about it; sometimes it works fine and other times, a slight lag. (I haven't gotten this problem; has anyone else?)

4. Those two are out of our jurisdiction (and really, no one actually goes there)

YCMaker does have some admin powers over there last time I checked (could be wrong), but yeah he's not responsible for Pokemon Card Maker or the MTG one either.

But either way, both are considerably dead (former is literally only me posting 90-something percent of the time) and MTG devolved to spambot posts.

1) I've looked at the stats and the YCM site gets a lot of traffic. I'm betting there's a ton of users who are unable to sign up and as a result, leave the site. Surely it would be beneficial to get this sorted sooner rather than later? I know you're a Mod so you're not directly responsible :P But it must be a pretty huge bug if it hasn't been fixed yet.

2) Am I a bit dozy or is there a way to PM a Mod without logging in? I couldn't find the contact option anywhere and wouldn't be back if I hadn't of remembered my old password.

3) Seems to be fine now.

4) Fair enough :P

Overall it looks like the site is very successful anyway but I would urge whoever is responsible for the Registration/Password Reset to get it sorted. The service this site provides is only good for the YGO community so I'd personally be happy if more people were involved :D
