He managed to find him, but sadly, he couldn't save him. According to this article, said officer is part of a group of police officers in the area who dress up as superheroes to cheer and inspire kids. I really do feel bad for both the officer and the family. The officer because he tried to save a 5 year old's life but couldn't, and the family for obvious reasons.
