Make a card based on a historical figure of choice.

----

Card A

1 "D/D" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Any time you take effect damage OR gain lifepoints from a card effect you may activate 1 of the following effects:

(1) Target 1 card on the field and destroy it.

(2) Target 1 Level 5 or lower “D/D” monster in your graveyard and special summon it to your side of the field.

(3) Target 1 monster on your side of the field. That monster is unaffected by your opponents card effects until the end of the turn.

Card B

Card A has a connection with the historical figure Artemisia, a ruthless commander who lead the Persian naval forces, as the name suggests. The image does not really corresponds a naval officer, more like an assassin dark force of sorts. Being a D/D adds a futuristic touch to it.

The first effect is quite useful and depicts Artemisia's ruthless behavior, killing her own minions and enemies, a monster destruction would be more favorable on the other hand, since Artemisia doesn't harness the power of magic.

The second effect is versatile, since it states level 5 and lower and D/D monsters as it's restriction, meaning you can easily resurrect troops from the graveyard to swarm the field, by comboing with a healing effect or self-damaging cards, such as  "Solemn Wishes" combining with a drawing fodder to heal and draw at the same time, also activate it's effect. The third effect is a protective one, which doesn't match the flavor of Artemisia, protecting herself or her own troops, there should be a limitation, or else it can be spammed. there should be a limitation to the amount of effect(s) activated each turn, to make it more balanced.

Being a level 6 Synchro makes this card quite hard to set up, since only Swirl Slime + Orthos combo is a quick succession, making this card somewhat hard to pull off, which makes up for it's effects

Card B

Card B is based on the philosopher Aristotle, which makes up for it's Psychic type. Aristotle has contributed many thoughts from physics to Biology, including the famous five element theory. Making it a Light attribute would be ideal, since Aristotle opens and shines the minds of many people, helping the improvement of science. The stats are quite balanced for a level 5, 1900 ATK is not very high or low.

My concern lies  in the effect of this card, since every time you draw a card it gains 500 ATK, making it very abusable, especially with "Pot of Greed", plus it also gains an additional 500 ATK for each drawn card without any limitation or restriction, making a 1000+ for every card drawn. The focus of this card shouldn't be on ATK, since a philosopher boasts his mind rather tahn brute strength, making the flavor come off. It also possesses the ability to look at the top three cards (think Lens) and set them, allowing a more organized combo and strategy, like a strategist.

The downside is that this card is easily abused, considering the 1000+ boost making it easy to reach 2900 ATK, without any restriction and limitation, it will be better if each effect of this card can only be activated once per turn, making it more playable and feasible. The better effect to match it's flavor will be looking a single card at your opponent's hand or banishing/return cards rather than boosting ATK.

Sorry for the lack of conscience, my vote goes to card A since it is harder to pull off in succession but has it's own potential, even though the effects can be a bit overpowered without limitation, it;s first effect depicts the ruthless and cruel commander. Card B can be blantantly overpowered using "Pot of Greed" (even though it's banned in the current metagame), and can easily get to 3900 ATK, making it unbalanced and the power boosting thing doen's really match with Aristotle....

For card B, do keep in mind that Pot of Greed is indeed banned. Yes, it's an option but for contest purposes, assume that the banlist still applies and PoG isn't here. There are the PoG-expies (or "neutered" attempts), but...

As for card A, if you are familiar with D/D's, all of them are Fiend type so even if it doesn't seem to fit; that's something that cannot be avoided (that, and being called "King"; see d'Arc). As for the damage thing, I could probably agree that it is a bit much given that they will have their Covenants/Dark Contracts up most of the time (and those inflict damage or reverse it if d'Arc exists). At worst, you can just spam Lilith or something and recover; not too familiar with their current style though (but I know they have Lamia and new toys that can be revived).

Come to think of it, 6 isn't really accessible in the Deck anyway; I don't know, Orthros + Swirl Slime is probably the only combination though for them, unless one wants to go through hoops with another combo with Night Howling / Lamia.

----

I'm a bit hesitant on accepting the vote as-is though.

I agree with navigation for the most part but i feel like he looked at Aristotle a bit too simply. The contest was to make a Yugioh card based around a historical figure, so i would definitely not say that flavor is lost to him creating physical strength from his psychic esque abilities he has been paired with in this instance, especially since that's how most psychics would fight, using their overwhelming mental capacities, so i actually think it has more flavour than what is simply a demon. With Chicken game gone now, Upstart limited and allure not working because it's light, i dont see how it's "easily" abused, it has reckless greed which acts as a sneaky +2000. It's very glass cannon with little other benefit, however it's also got a secondary effect that gives it even more use.

Honestly, i feel like Card B has more flavor and is more appealing from a historical character point of view, personally.

I vote Card B

Technically, the contest ended 13 hours ago (but I left the vote open until three hours ago as per Leaderboard rules); right now, it's 10:49 am 4/16/2016.

So yeah, vote won't be counted (that, and you didn't really say stuff about A's usage).

Though, I'll at least give you a voter rep for explaining the reasoning for one of them.

Because of this, 1-0 card A, meaning Next Tuesday moves on to Round 3.
