Magic Set Editor: Image Quality Problem

BGMaxie

Question

Greetings. I need some help here trying to solve a problem that's been plaguing me and I'm not sure how to fix. Thing is when I employ images in my cards they lose quality BEFORE I even export them. First I work these images in Paintshop Pro to a workable size, good quality, save them as PNG as I know they have good quality. Then when I select the image to put on the card frame, the image loses quality and it looks crappy. Been trying to play with Force to Fit, the Sharp Lifter in several ways but I'm still unsuccessful in solving this problem. May I know what am I doing wrong please? Thanks.

You also have the templates that Zextra and I made for Series 9 stuff; although, the catches are that [1] You will need access to either PS or GIMP, which the latter is free and [2] You'll have to adjust the font sizes and other layers manually.

However, they are the same size as the cards generated on our card maker (419 x 610). Just make sure the image you're trying to add is no smaller than 319 x 319 (I'd add an extra pixel on each dimension to be safe).

Latter one needs a bit of an update though, since I have changed some of the XCF stuff for the Pendulums. (They are separate files)

I noticed the size may have mattered and I resized it so it could match. I used Photozoom which is a pretty darn good program for resizing images with amazing quality and used a 320x320 size, but the same problem happened. As soon as I put it in the card frame everything went south, perhaps I should illustrate:

This is one pic I had trouble with. I worked with it in Paintshop pro and reached to this base here. As you can see it has decent quality.

Next is when I try to select the image, there are a few discrepancies on the quality if we look at the right screen though it is still within a reasonable range and I expect it to be due to the more oversized nature of the picture here, however..............

As soon as I ok, this is what happens............and there is a more than evident quality loss here...the pic got totally pixelated and blurred. it looks bad when comparing it to the other two preliminary phases.

That there is the problem I'm struggling with. What the heck happened in the transition that resulted in the pic getting damaged is what is beyond me. I've been playing with the Lifter too but I've had little success unfortunately. Also all of this is in on a Series 9 template.
