Yuuji Kazami
2 Days left for contestants. To all the other judges, I'll copy and paste all of the entries in one post after the deadline is reached, with the respective creators.
Major's Shadow
Just wanted to let you all know that, as a courtesy to all entrants, I take pride in providing as extensive a review as needed for each and every card (those of you who have entered my competitions should know this). Sometimes this can reach up to 2 paragraphs just for a single sub-section of the reviews. Due to the scale of this competition's theme, and the number of entrants I have to review, this will be the most time-consuming and difficult competition I've had to judge yet. I hope you all can bear with me, as I feel the end results will be worth it. I will post status updates routinely after the competition has ended, but to ease your minds, I've have been, and will continue to be working on the outlines of each review. Thank you once again Yuuji for accepting me as a judge, and I hope I don't fail to please you all! -YugsterMajor ~
Northern Sage
[spoiler=Late but it's here.] Negate the effects of all monsters Pendulum Summoned with this card. Once per turn, during either player's turn, if your opponent Special Summons two or more monsters at the same time: You can discard 1 Zombie-type monster, then target 1 of those monsters with a Level equal to or lower than the discarded monster's; Take control of that target.1 tuner + 1 or more non-tuner monstersWhen this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target 1 Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon up to 3 monsters with that name from your Graveyard. You can only activate the effect of "Crazed Caleuche" once per turn. If this card would be destroyed: You can place it in 1 of your Pendulum Zones instead. Must be Special Summoned by tributing a "Petit Moth" equipped with "Cocoon of Evolution" which has destroyed a monster by battle and sent it to the Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card cannot be targeted or destroyed by battle or card effects, and is unaffected by monster effects. When this card declares an attack: Negate the effects of all other cards on the field. Dragulas
It isnt 12:00 so not sure i can enter but at least i tried... [spoiler=Last Minute entry]1 DARK Tuner + 1 or more non-monstersIf this card is Synchro Summoned using a "Vampire" monster as a Material: You can declare 1 card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap); your opponent sends 1 card of that type each from their Deck, hand, and field to the Graveyard (if any). You can only use this effect of "Crimson Night Vampire Dragon" once per turn. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets a card(s) in the Graveyard, OR when a card effect is activated in the Graveyard: You can negate the activation. [spoiler=Reasoning]I had this from the vampire support i made, and this was in fact their boss monster (easily accesible with the whole support)It can still work as a semi generic synchro, but of course vampires will get the whole benefit from it.It can stop grave effects and grave directed effects, so vampires can force the opponent to dump their cards without the fear of triggering something.Uni-Zombie plays an important role in this card's summon if this card alone would exist, and its because of him that it couldnt be a lvl 8 monster

Regarding my results, they are fairly close to completion! I'm hoping to push everything out by tomorrow or this Sunday, after every entrant has been reviewed and those reviews have been proof read. Yuuji Kazami
i'm in. and i already have the perfect card too.[spoiler Here]Cannot be Special Summoned. Requires 4 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal Summon cannot be negated. When Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. This card is unaffected by other card effects. This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in your Graveyard. It's meant to be generic, however the best place for it would be a deck that likes the mill like 'Noids or SacThrashSworns; that said it is basically unsearchable and completely unsupported through existing archetypes (except LIghtsworns a bit). Furnace Moltius, Igknight LordFIRERank 43400 / 2300Scale 2Warrior / Xyz / Pendulum / EffectPE: When you Pendulum Summon a FIRE Pendulum monster(s): You can Special Summon this card and attach the Pendulum Summoned FIRE monster(s) to this card as the Xyz Material. (Max. 2) You can only activate this effect once per turn.ME: 3 Level 4 MonstersIf you can Pendulum Summon Level 4, you can Pendulum Summon this card while it is face-up in the Extra Deck. If this card has 1 Xyz Material attached to it: Its original ATK becomes 3000. If this card has no Xyz Material attached to this card: Its original ATK becomes 2600. When this card is Xyz Summoned, you can target 1 FIRE Pendulum monster face-up in your Extra Deck: Add it to your hand. During each of your Standby Phases, take 1000 damage. Every time this card destroys a monster by battle, you gain 1000 LP. During your Standby Phases, if you were to take damage from this card's effect: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead. If this card has no Xyz Materials attached to this card, you can destroy this card and send it to 1 of your Pendulum Zones. If the one you choose already has a Pendulum card; Destroy it. If a Pendulum card in your Pendulum zone is destroyed by one of your own effects: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone while it is face-up in your Extra Deck. Here you go![spoiler=Contest Entry] The Phantom Knights Death LordDarkRank 5Warrior/Effect3 Level 5 monstersYou can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "The Phantom Knights" Xyz Monster you control. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz materials on this card.) When this card is Xyz Summoned: You can target 1 Level 4 or lower monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can detach 1 Xyz Material; During the End Phase, destroy all face-up non-Dark monsters. If this Xyz Summoned card is destroyed: Special Summon 1 monster attached to this card. You can only use each effect of "The Phantom Knights Death Lord" once per turn.2400/1000 Submission: [spoiler Card][spoiler Card Text]2 or more (max. 5) Level 4 Machine-Type monstersOnce per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it. This card gains effects based on the number of "Gadget" Xyz Materials attached to it. *1 or more: When this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. *2 or more: If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. *3 or more: Once per turn, you can Normal Summon 1 "Gadget" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set this turn. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) *4 or more: This card gains 800 ATK. *5: Once per turn: You can add 1 Level 4 "Gadget" monster from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.[spoiler Design Notes]With knowledge of the new Gadget cards, Gold and Silver, why not give the Gadgets a new boss monster that is like AGGD Mk. 2? Introducing AG Gadjiltron Hydra, the all-new Gadget sink that doesn't even consume your Normal Summon! It doesn't specify needing to use Gadgets to Summon it, but with all those shiny point effects you might as well dump as many into it as you can. At its base it offers great removal that complemented the control float strat, with the added bonus of being able to consistently snipe backrow, something that most generic R4s lack. Keep a Gadget in it, and it gains the Ancient Gear self-defense ability. 2, and it tramples like Golem. 3 is where it starts to shine a little. It takes a little effort to put down 3 Gadgets at a go (usually you'd field 2 at once unless it's the gold-standard Gold-Silver-Gadget combo, but that burns your hand advantage) but when that happens it starts granting nice extra Normal Summons to make further plays easier! Once it hits 4, I feel an effective 3300 ATK Ancient Gear Golem should be worth 4 mats in addition to all the other stuff above. Dump 5 Gadgets into Hydra and, well, you've certainly earned the ability to tutor more Gadgets to NS each turn. inb4 Konami actually introduces another Gadget boss akin to this one. Then, here's-a my entry [spoiler=Entry] 2 Level 10 MonstersYou can also Xyz Summon this card by using 1 Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material and sending monster(s) from your hand to the Graveyard whose total Levels + the Rank of the Xyz Monster equals 10 or more. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster are also attached to this card.) When this card is Xyz Summoned: Choose 1 of its Xyz Materials; This card gains ATK equal to that monster's Rank/Level x200. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and target 1 card on the field; This turn, that target cannot be destroyed by card effects and gains the following effect:● If this card leaves the field, destroy 1 card you control. If you cannot, banish 1 card from your hand face-down instead. [spoiler=Designer's Notes]There's a lot of reasons I really, really like this card. It epitomizes the idea of risk vs. reward, as well as giving multiple avenues for use on its effect. But, there's a couple design points that I want to touch upon:- I've heard before an oft used critique of self-Xyz-Evolution cards like Gaia that end up being problems because they allow a player to get off an effect and mitigate any downsides to that specific monster because of the effect, or bypass lockdown cards like Fiendish Chain. Yes, X-Kaiser is as generic as any Xyz monster can get; but to counter this problem of it being so generic, there's the additional cost of discarding monsters to work into the summon itself. For ranks 5 and up, this ends up being one discard for a decently strong boss monster with minor protection or additional removal effects. For ranks 4 and below (especially Rank 4), this ends up being a 2+ card discard to summon this monster, which ends up having 2800 attack in the process. The idea is to scale the overall cost of summon depending on the relative ease of summon for the main monster you're using as a material. As the rank gets higher, the summon becomes more flexible and the reward gets greater.- The stat gain effect as a trigger works well with how this card can be used to replace theoretically any Xyz (Rank 1 is going to be way too much trouble for what you get). The point of it being a trigger instead of a continuous is that it opens more avenues for disruption on the opponent's part; cards such as Ghost Ogre have more significance in countering this card from hitting the field as a replacement, as well as any negation effects with specific timing for when an effect activates. This adds more risk to using the card, and with the cost of summon in consideration, it makes knowing when to summon this card more significant than just slapping it on any Dante you have with no materials.- Finally, the protection effect. I love this effect because of how flexible it is in that it can be used to protect any card (spells or traps included; set or not) from destruction; but also runs the risk of the given player losing more if that given card ends being removed anyways. This can be used to protect X-Kaiser himself in case the opponent needs to use effect destruction to remove it; it can be used to protect a vital S/T you control; it can be used to prevent an opponent from getting off an effect that requires them to destroy a card they want destroyed; but, more importantly, it can be used to hit the opponent harder in the card count when you really go in for the kill. Boop boop~ [spoiler=Submission'']The Grand OrderDARK/Level 10Fairy/EffectCannot be Special Summoned/Set. Must be Normal Summoned in addition to your Normal Summon/Set this turn by destroying 3 cards you control or in your hand (it is treated as being destroyed by your opponent's card effect.) Once per turn, during either player's turn, if both players control a monster: You can banish any number of card(s) in your Graveyard (max. 5), then both players target the same number of monster(s) they control (if less, they target all monsters they control instead); switch control of them to their opponent until the End Phase, and if you do, halve any battle damage both players take this turn.3000/3000 [spoiler=Small Notes'']As you can see, i made generic boss for anyone who love pop*ing out their own card (you name it, Artifacts, Yang Zing, Fire King, etc etc etc.) Also for the Nomi clause, nah, "Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set . . . ." are booooooring, instead i made another Nomi "Cannot be Special Summoned/Set . . ." that way, this boss can bypass SS restriction effect (something like Vanity and such) with a small addition with "treated as being destroyed by your opponent", growing the list of float cards that'll work with this card's summoning conditions, while also prevent this card from cheap revival like CotH. As for the field eff, it can be a lot, or maybe nasty, something like when your opponent activate Raigeki then you change control monsters *pooof*, they just pop*d their own monsters. Not only raigeki, mirror trap works too OR if you want to change control of float monster to your opponent and attack with it. Last edit:> Changing the card's name.> Tone down the eff a bit. [spoiler=Entry] Cannot be destroyed by card effects. During either player's turn: You can banish 1 DARK monster you control; Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card (except during the Damage Step): You can tribute this card; Special Summon 1 Level 5 or higher DARK monster from your Deck, except "The Eteranl Zhanzheng". You can only use each effect of "The Eternal Zhanzheng" once per turn. [spoiler=flags]Frightfur Patchwork KingDARK[Fiend/Fusion/Effect]✪✪✪✪✪✪✪✪✪✪ATK/3000 DEF/30003 "Frightfur" monstersMust be Fusion Summoned using the above listed materials that were Fusion Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can only control 1 "Frightfur Patchwork King". When this card is Summoned: You can target 1 "Frightfur" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. Cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. Once per turn: You can Fusion Summon one monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand and/or field as materials. If you would Summon a "Frightfur" monster by this effect, you can also banish monsters from your Graveyard as Fusion materials. All "Frightfur" monsters you control gain 100 ATK for each card on the field. funking spoilers breaking on me. There was a thing here, it may come back if I can fix it. [spoiler=Entry]Assault Blackwing - Honjo the Heavy RainDARK / *10Winged Beast / Synchro / Effect2800 / 24001 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monstersIf this card is Synchro Summoned using a "Blackwing" monster as Material, it is treated as a Tuner monster while face-up on the field. Cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects. Once per turn: you can target 1 "Blackwing" monster in your Graveyard; Add that target to your hand, then, this card gain ATK equal to the ATK of the added monster. During your Battle Phase, If this card was Synchro Summoned using a Synchro monster as Material, it can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each. [spoiler=Design Notes]I decided to go with my favorite archetype, Blackwing. The new releases of the Assault Blackwings got me tingly so I decided to make a boss monster of that sub-archetype that supports Blackwings in general. Blackwing has the search power. It has the swarm power. But it lacks revival/recycling power outside Blizzard. Against the Wind is a good recycling card but the drawback is just too much. Assault Blackwings tends to remedy this but for some reason, they only revive fellow Assault Blackwings. Blackwing Tamer is also another good revival power but most of the Blackwings you'll use are <= Level 4. So that's where the first effect came from. It's capable of recycling blackwings reliably more importantly Kalut (for its effect) and Blizzard (cause it can't be Special Summoned). It also gains ATK when recycled a monster allowing this card to lead some OTKs. Final effect allows it to mow down the field after getting ATK from first effect. Submitting my card here. [spoiler:Entry]D/D/D Legendary Swordsman King Musashi[ DARK / Rank 7 ][ Fiend / Xyz / Effect ]2 or more Level 7 "D/D" monstersYou can also Xyz Summon this card by using a Rank 5 "D/D/D" Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If Summoned this way, the following effect cannot be activated this turn. Once per turn: You can destroy any amount of other face-up "D/D" or "Dark Contract" cards you control, up to the number of Xyz Materials attached to this card +1, and if you do, destroy the same amount of cards destroyed by this effect on your opponent's side of the field. If a face-up "D/D" or "Dark Contract" card(s) you control would be destroyed by a card effect, except by the effect of this card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead of destroying 1 of those cards. If this card is destroyed by battle, or if this card in its owner's possession leaves the field by an opponent's card effect: You can target 1 Level 7 or lower "D/D" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it, but its effects are negated. You can only control 1 face-up "D/D/D Legendary Swordsman King Musashi".[ ATK 2750 / DEF 0 ] [spoiler:Notes]1. This card's amount of ATK points are based of "Hyohen Niten Ichi Ryu", Musashi's sword style which consist of 55(?) different techniques which I multiplied it by 100, then divided it by 2.2. This card is made for the OCG meta. So, don't compare this to Kozmos and TCG-Exclusive stuffs. [spoiler=Entry] [spoiler=Entry Written]Netzach, the Eternal Overlord | LIGHTLevel 10Fairy/Effect You can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard by shuffling 2 or more LIGHT Fairy-type monsters in your hand, field, or Graveyard into your Deck. This card is shuffled back into your Deck during the End Phase of a turn it is Special Summoned this way. While this card is face-up on the field: You may Banish any LIGHT Fairy-type monster(s) sent from your side of the field to the Graveyard (by battle or card effect). Once per turn: you can Special Summon up to 2 of your Banished monsters whose total level(s) are equal to 8 or less. If "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is face-up on the field, you can activate this effect up to twice per turn. 2800/2700 [spoiler=Flavor]"If "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is face-up on the field, you can activate this effect up to twice per turn." Influenced by Master Hyperion Naming influenced by Sephylon, the Ultimate Timelord and Tyr the Vanquishing Warlord. Netzach is the seventh of the ten Sefirot in the Jewish mystical system of Kabbalah. It is located beneath Chesed ('loving-kindness'), at the base of the "Pillar of Mercy" which also consists of Chochmah ('wisdom'). Netzach generally translates to 'eternity', and in the context of Kabbalah refers to 'perpetuity', 'victory', or 'endurance'. It's effect derives from the concept of eternity by recycling itself from the Graveyard, and recycling other Fairies from the Banished pile. It remains true to the pre-existing fairies who focus on accessing and maintaning Sanctuary of the Sky. Due to Neztach's recycling effect, I dropped its ATK and DEF stats slightly compared to other level 10s. Additionally, by making it so that Netzach can only recover up to level 8, it prevents Netzach from recovering the other LIGHT Fairy boss monsters directly to the field. However, it can send any destroyed monster higher than level 9 from the Graveyard to the deck using it's self recovery effect. I opted to not restricting its Special Summoning capabilities by other card effect, also aiding in the decision to lower it's stats to 2800 instead of 4000/3000 ATK. [spoiler=Entry]Aromage Tagetes| LV8WIND | Plant | Effect2800/1400----While your LP are higher than your opponent's, during either player's turn: You can pay 1000 LP; Special Summon this card (from your hand or Graveyard). If this card is Special Summoned this way: You can Special Summon 1 "Aromage" monster from your Deck, except "Aromage Tagetes", but its effects are negated until the end of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Aromage Tagetes" once per turn. [spoiler=Reasoning and Flavor]Aromage is an archetype with a strong foundation in the form of Jasmine and their potent Spell and Trap support, but they lack the speed needed to participate at higher levels. Namely, Jasmine, Cananga, and Bergamot all require you to either Normal or Tribute Summon them, which is inefficient. In addition, their effects are extremely mediocre and do not actively progress your gamestate enough (namely Cananga and Jasmine). In order to solve this issue, Aromage would need a monster that is easily summoned and is able to generate field presence on its own. I attempted to solve this issue by giving Aromages an archetype-driven "Lonefire Blossom" that is also a respectable beatstick. The summoning conditions are easy to achieve but will be difficult to recur multiple times throughout the course of a game, and since it can't actively get rid of threats outside of the battle phase, it adheres to the Aromage playstyle of relying on Jasmine and Bergamot to take down monsters via battle. The card itself is based on Tagetes, a flower which is used for its essential oils. Tagetes are known for use in cultivation of other plants, which reinforces its effect to summon other Aromages from the Deck. The drawback on the card is purely to balance the card, and has no relation to the flavor. (( Seeing Black as a judge now terrifies me somewhat, but now it says on the first post that 'creator notes' are actually recommended (If I misunderstood I'll remove that) . Now as this time they contain only flavor (as I don't seem to be the best duelist ever) , it doesn't matter if he reads it first or last or whenever. It's there for fun. I am filled with determination. :V ))Requesting entry![spoiler=Entry] Underworld Invasion TowerDARKRank 10Zombie / Xyz / Effect 2 Level 10 monstersYou can also Xyz Summon this card by using 1 Rank 5 or higher Zombie-Type monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) Cannot be targeted by your opponent's monster effects. This card gains 100 ATK for each Zombie-Type monster in any Graveyard. Each time a Zombie-type monster(s) is Special Summoned successfully, Banish the top 2 cards of your opponent's Deck face-down. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 non-Xyz Zombie-Type monster in either Graveyard; Special Summon it. ATK/3000 DEF/1500 [spoiler= Creator notes :V ]This falls under generic boss monster, doesn't refer to any archetype specificly, but....First flavor is obviously 'underworld' . It doesn't seem to be an archetype, as its members don't directly refer to 'underworld' , just Zombie-type.Second, the most vague flavor of them all, is 'invasion' . No, it's not Verz (Evilswarm) / Inverz (Steelswarm) , but actually from an anime - Aldnoah Zero, the inspiration coming from the 'landing castles' . (The 'underworld' title and image of the card imply that it's not coming from space, but from underground though. )Third, the most obvious - 'Tower', from the now-banned 'Apoqliphort Towers' , which this card inherited its original ATK stat from ( The Japanese name has 'Killer' instead of 'Towers' , but that works too. ) , and 'Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower', which this card inherited its DEF stat and that one part of its effect from. If you look at the artwork, the card even looks like 'Apoqliphort Towers' a bit, if you look at the upper 'limbs' as 'back legs' . Here you go! [spoiler=My Ace] I know you guys can't read that so here: Armed AngelLevel 10DARK[Warrior-Type/Effect]You can Normal Summon this monster with up to 3 Tributes, and if you do, apply the appropriate effect, depending on the number of Tributes.1: Decrease this monster`s original ATK to 1500. Decrease its level to 6.2: This monster cannot be destroyed by battle. Decrease its level to 8.3: Increase this monster's original ATK by 1500. It is immune to your opponents card effects. Thunder needs some love too! [spoiler=Thnderclap Gateway Dragon]1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Thunder-Type monstersThis card is also treated as Thunder-Type. When this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: You can banish 2 Dragon or Thunder-Type monsters from your Graveyard; this card can make up to 2 attacks this turn. You can target up to 2 Thunder-Type monsters in your Graveyard: Add them to your hand, then take 500 damage for each. You can only use this effect of "Thunderclap Gateway Dragon" once per turn. i would like to join [spoiler=Entry] 2 FIRE monsters with different name and combined Level of 10 or more. You can Reveal this card in your Extra Deck, then target 2 or more monsters you control whose combined Level is 10 or more including a FIRE monster, destroy all targets, and if you do, Special Summon this card (This Summon is treated as Fusion Summon). If this card is Special Summoned by its own effects, other monsters you control cannot attack directly for the rest of the turn. Cannot be destroyed by monster effects. You can destroy 1 other card on either's field or hand (Card from your opponent's hand is chosen at random). If this card is in your Graveyard: You can destroy monsters you control on in your hand whose combined Level is 10 or more, and if you do, Special Summon this card. You can only use each effect of "Fire King High Avatar Megarunix" once per turn. [spoiler=Late but it's here.](Skull Servants is the intended deck) Last minute entry! [spoiler= ]Infinity Supreme Moth - Legend MothLvl 12, 4000/4000, EARTH, InsectCannot be Normal Summoned/Set. During either player's turn: You can banish 1 EARTH Insect-Type "Moth" monster, or 1 "Cocoon of Evolution", from your hand or Graveyard; banish 1 card on the field. It isnt 12:00 so not sure i can enter but at least i tried... [spoiler=Last Minute entry] 1 DARK Tuner + 1 or more non-monstersIf this card is Synchro Summoned using a "Vampire" monster as a Material: You can declare 1 card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap); your opponent sends 1 card of that type each from their Deck, hand, and field to the Graveyard (if any). You can only use this effect of "Crimson Night Vampire Dragon" once per turn. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets a card(s) in the Graveyard, OR when a card effect is activated in the Graveyard: You can negate the activation. [spoiler=Reasoning]I had this from the vampire support i made, and this was in fact their boss monster (easily accesible with the whole support)It can still work as a semi generic synchro, but of course vampires will get the whole benefit from it.It can stop grave effects and grave directed effects, so vampires can force the opponent to dump their cards without the fear of triggering something.Uni-Zombie plays an important role in this card's summon if this card alone would exist, and its because of him that it couldnt be a lvl 8 monster So I'll be removing the ones who did not submit an entry. If any of the judges see this, I hope that it'll make grading easier for you. =) I'll also be officially starting my grading now as well. -Yuuji Kazami
