Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

1 Tuner + 2 or more non-Tuner monsters

When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can banish up to 1 card each from your opponent's hand, field, and Graveyard. (The card in the hand is chosen at random.)

Little known fact, this is my favorite card in the game :3

So we're coming up 3 years of this cards unbanning, and it has unwavering stayed at 1 in both formats.

Is it maybe time for Trishula to move up to 2?

Looking at the card itself, it's a -2 to summon, and effect negation would leave it at a -1 (veiler) or -2 (solemn), granted counters don't justify a card, but they're are quite prominent regardless of Trish and that does "weaken" a card

We've also seen an increase in cards that cannot be targeted, so having an extra removal option doesn't seem terrible. Being a three material sync, Trishula does require "dedication" in some regard.

With Chain banned in both formats, the idea of every rank 4 deck being able to use this card with bulb likely won't happen, so that's out.

We need only to look at the format, when it was first unbanned in OCG, Sept 2013, you had Verz teching Unknown Synchro to get this card out, now days even decks that can summon it quite often pass on running it.

Then there's the matter of Nekroz of Trishula being able to be summoned multiple times per duel (not even uncommon to see it happen)?

That aside, isn't this one of Phantom Knight's best outs to Kozmo?

Something like that maybe? I was really kinda hoping for a reprint in Gold, but jeez this card is still in the 30's min for prices

The potential ability to summon multiples in a term is not a good thing for the game. So no, shouldn't move up. Fine at 1, unfair in multiples.

Well the potential ability to summon multiples already exists due to de-synchro.

You would need a fresh set of materials to make the second Trishula otherwise. But yes, PS4, normal Bulb, Trish 1, Bulb, Trish 2 would be pretty devastating.

No strong feeling about it moving to multiples. I'd be happy either way.

That being said, any reasons why you think it's been on a decline recently?

De-Synchro is garbage, though

Multiples still means you can end up knocking 4 cards out of their hand/3 off of board/bin, or with only 2 copies, 3/2/2. Enterblathnir is Trishula as a Rank 9, after all. That can put you really far ahead, depending on how easily they were made.

Decline is probably just due to a lack of complete ease in summoning it.
