Recreated God Cards Closer To the Anime

The Egyptian god cards are depowered from their anime forms to make them legal. That is understandable and necessary but they are now pretty underwhelming. So I rewrote the effects of all the god cards to more closely mirror the anime. The gods' new effects are a little long but they seem to completely fit the anime. They're overpowered, yes, but they're way cooler than their legal versions. There may be one or two inconsistencies in how the god cards work in the anime but I hopefully smoothed them all out. I also gave the gods their original names from Egyptian mythology back to them.

Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal Summon cannot be negated. When Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. This card is unaffected by card effects (except the effects of DIVINE Divine-Beast-Type monsters). During the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the Graveyard. You can Tribute 2 monsters to activate one of the following effects:

  • Destroy all monsters your opponent controls. This card cannot declare an attack the turn this effect is activated.
  • Inflict 4000 damage to your opponent.
  • Increase the ATK of this card by 2000. If one of the Tributed monsters is a DIVINE Divine-Beast-Type monster, increase the ATK of this card to INF.

Ptah was the smith and mason of the Egyptian pantheon and the Lord of Shadows, as he lived beneath the earth rather than in heaven, his home full of stones and rare jewels. He seems to be a composite of the Greco-Roman gods of Hephaestus/Vulcan and Hades/Pluto. As a god card, he is arguably the strongest, even though he technically subordinates to Ra. Ra is more flexible but Ptah has sheer brute force. In the anime, Kaiba used Ptah to either clear the opponent's field or inflict 4000 damage. Atem favored using Ptah's last effect, giving it infinite ATK.

This card is unaffected by card effects (except the effects of DIVINE Divine-Beast-Type monsters). During the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the Graveyard. This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in your hand. When a monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your opponent's side of the field in face-up Attack Position: That monster(s) loses 2000 ATK, then if its ATK has been reduced to 0 as a result, destroy it.

Osiris was Lord of the Dead in the Egyptian pantheon, ruling over heaven, where exemplary mortals entered after their trials in the underworld. His Greco-Roman equivalent is Hades/Pluto. Osiris is actually the weakest of the gods because his ATK and DEF strength rely on an inconsistent factor: how many cards you hold in your hand. His "second mouth ability" is pretty nice for control but it's slow compared to Ptah and Ra and relies on your opponent to summon monsters.

This card is unaffected by card effects (except its own and "Apep the Great Evil God") and you take no damage from battles involving this card. During the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the Graveyard. If Tribute Summoned: the ATK and DEF of this card becomes equal to the combined ATK and DEF of the monsters you Tributed for the Tribute Summon of this card. When this card is Summoned: You can pay Life Points so that you only have 100 left and Tribute monsters you control; this card gains ATK and DEF equal to the amount of Life Points paid and monsters Tributed. You can pay 1000 Life Points, destroy all monsters your opponent controls.

Ra was the sun god and the supreme god in the Egyptian pantheon. The only gods that could challenge him were Apep, the embodiment of all darkness and chaos, and Isis, who knew his secret name. He is the strongest of the gods. I designed his effect so that neither Ptah nor Osiris can injure him, which is what happens in the manga. Even when Atem charged Ptah up to infinite ATK, the attack just bounced off of Ra. There are three legal versions of Ra in the meta: a "sphere mode", "battle mode", and "phoenix mode". But here I crammed all of Ra's effects and all three of his modes into one card, as the anime does.

This card is unaffected by card effects (except its own). During the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the Graveyard. You take no battle damage from attacks involving this Attack Position card. At the end of damage calculation, if this card attacked or was attacked: destroy all monsters your opponent controls and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the monster that battled this card. During your End Phase, destroy all cards you control (except this card) and Special Summon as many "Kul Elna Ghost Tokens" (Zombie-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 4000/DEF 4000) as possible on your field.

Apep was the oldest of all gods in the Egyptian pantheon, the first being to emerge from the primeval waters of chaos. His Greek counterpart is Typhon, the father of all monsters, and his Christian counterpart is Satan. He was the embodiment of all evil and chaos, often symbolized as a giant serpent. Every night, Ra and all deceased pharaohs would battle Apep in the underworld to prevent him from destroying the universe. Apep was defeated each night, but would revive for the next night, creating an infinite cycle. I designed his effect so no card in the entire game could directly beat him. The only way a duelist can defeat Apep is to fulfill an alternate win condition, such as summoning Ra-Horakhty, as Atem did.

Apep was a card I created from thin air because I thought he was so cool he deserved to have his own card. His battling and damage effects are drawn from the manga. Apep instantly kills any monster Yugi and Joey throw at him, and they lose life points equal to their monsters' ATK. The great demon even kills the gods with little effort. I used Sephylon, the Ultimate Timelord as inspiration for Apep's other effect where he summons a bunch of 4000 ATK monsters. If Sephylon is God then Apep is Satan, and thus can mimic God's powers to a degree.

Not a god card in any way. I just wanted to add her new design as a bonus. It's way better than Konami's by a wide margin.

We don't permit unchanged versions of cards that already exist either in real life or documented from the anime/manga, even if it's just an alt-art. Going to have to request you remove Helios.

The God cards are still okay - at least you've made edits to them to try and strike a balance between their anime appearance and legal versions. Osiris is exactly the same as the legal and version (well, barring the enhanced card effect immunity) because these abilities were rather clearly defined and the real life port treated it nicely.

To be fair, it was only Trap cards that didn't affect them in the anime. Other card effects only affected them for one turn, which is why they are sent to the Graveyard when Special Summoned. Also, your Slifer is essentially the same as the legal one.

I'm not so sure. As far as I know they can't be targeted by Spells at all at the very least. That's why Atem never dared target Malik's Osiris with Brain Control or God Slime clone with Soul Taker. I know the anime characters say, "Spells only work on god cards for one turn.", making you technically correct, but the only spells that ever worked against the gods was Monster Reborn. That makes the god cards, "Special Summon for only one turn." effect more plausible.

Thanks. Ptah (Obelisk) was a nightmare though.
