HOLY S*** IT'S METALPHOSIS GIGAVISE

Recommended Posts

Okay, so like, my last post was in July.

Hi there, YCM. It's Darkplant from the good'ol days.

I've quit being active on this site quite a long time ago, and as a matter of fact I don’t even play Yu-Gi-Oh much actively anymore. Some of my IRL friends still do, but I gave away most of my good cards to them. Another reason of my inactivity was because I was studying for college entrance exams (yeah, I admit, I was pretty damn young back then).

Now, I’ve finished my exams in February, and despite the fact I didn’t study very hard, I’ve somehow successfully entered the college I wanted to go to. This is probably because Japanese college exams have this particular subject called “English” and it counts quite a lot in the grades and… OHOHOHOHO. Screw the exams, I grew up in New York.

Anyhow, now I’m free, and I’ve been spending most of my time playing stupid games with my friends like a bunch of idiots. I actually am playing more of D&D than Yugioh recently, to be honest, tho’.

Okay, so that’s that. Thing is, one of my friends is… he’s insane. I mean, he’s virtually insane because he created this Worm Drake.dek and it actually worked pretty well. I don’t know what on earth he was smoking, but one thing for sure it must be real good.

So I was talking with this insane friend and he told me about this new category called the Metalphosis. I had already played with this friend’s Ignight Gishki.dek (I know, most of his decks don’t make sense on first glance – but they really DO work) and knew how Vanillas and Pendulums were great fun, so I was pretty interested in this Metalphosis category as well. The effect that allowed it to destroy your cards and search out the Polymerization-ish card was also fascinating. Problem was, I didn’t know what to combine it with…

…Until…

Gigavise.

Okay, those of you who have been on these forums from the medieval times probably know me as being obsessed with Gigaplant. Hell, I even have the word “Plant” in my username. Darkplant.dek was the name of the Tomato Gigavise I was using back in, what…like… 2011 or something. It eventually grew to be my username in these forums.

I still have my Darkplant.dek, though it’s now far from strong. Not because it was weakened (in fact, Lonefire at 3 actually makes it stronger than before), but because all the other decks are now Super Saiyan and it’s weaker in comparison.

I know that “when destroyed by battle~” is a hideously weak effect in the current format, but I don’t really care, I still will keep on using Gigavise. It’s not like I still play in tournaments or aim to be top-tier or anything. I play only for fun, so I will use whatever I want to.

But still, as a completely different deck altogether (using proxy cards and such), Metalphosis Gigavise seems like a pretty damn interesting concept.

OUT: DARK monsters

IN: Copy Plant, Ultimaya Tzolkin, Metalphosis stuff, Fire King Avatar Kirin, Circle of the Fire Kings, Painful Decision, some other random stuff

Example of how it works:

First Hand

Metalphosis Gold (Scale 1)*

Metalphosis Steel (Scale 8)*

Gigaplant

Fire King Avatar Kirin

Whatever Spell/Trap Card

*NOTE-Painful Decision could search either of these

1. Activate 2 Metalphosis Pendulums

2. Pendulum Summon Gigaplant and Kirin

3. Gold eff, destroy Kirin, set Fusion and mill Lonefire

4. Gemini Summon Gigaplant, SS Lonefire from graveyard

5. Lonefire, Lonefire, Lonefire, Copy Plant

6. Copy Plant eff, Level 6, send both to graveyard for Ultimaya Tzolkin

7. Set whatever Spell/Trap Card, Tzolkin eff (since card was set), SS Black Brutdrago

8. Steel eff, destroy Black Brutdrago, set a Fusion, Black Brutdrago eff, SS Gigaplant

9. Gigaplant eff, SS Lonefire into whatever Plant you like

Now, yes, true I used up my entire hand (lol), but I now have 2 Pendulums, Tzolkin, Gigaplant, random plant, 1 random set S/T, and 2 set Metalphosis S/T. 8 cards total, +3 card advantage. Well you could call it 6 cards (+1 advantage) from how Pendulums don’t do much on their own, but either way, I like the way how it whirls around. It simply looks fun.

Getting out both Scrap Dragon and Black Brutdrago and destroying Brutdrago for the lolz was a move I often did when I was using Dark Gigavise. But in here it can be done even easier with the Metalphosis cards. And on that note, another interesting move to go is destroying Black Brutdrago (OMG IT'S FIRE) with Circle of the Fire Kings, SS-ing whatever FIRE is in your graveyard and a Gemini-Summoned Gigaplant in one nice combo (Circle destroys and SS-es at the same time, so Brutdrago doesn’t miss timing. Same with the Metalphosis cards. Ohohohoho).

One thing worth noting here is that if the “random S/T in the first hand” was Supervise (or Hidden Armory, since my Normal Summon was in step 4), I could just stop the above procedure at step 3 and proceed to go into the normal old-fashioned Gigaplant OTK. With the help of Kirin, I could start the OTK without even drawing Lonefire Blossom. Even if you can’t draw Lonefire, Pendulum Summoning allows you to SS that Gigaplant that came into your hand – which is close to worthless when in the hand in most Gigavise builds. This is one good selling point of this concept.

To add, what makes Tzolkin so fun here isn’t just that it can SS Black Brutdrago. It can also go for Power Tool (search a Supervise, Mark of Rose, or Symbol of Heritage), if anyone even remembers it had that nice anime fluff. And even if you don’t have any S/T in your hand, no worries – the Metalphosis Pendulums can set S/T cards on your field with their own effects, making activating Tzolkin easier. Which does make them work together quite nicely.

(And as in the case with the procedure I showed you above, Void Ogre Dragon fits nicely into this deck.)

Speaking of that Mark of Rose, you could troll your opponent with Mark of Rose + destroy the equipped monster with Metalphosis. OR you could simply suck it in as fusion material, ‘cause the restrictions for the Metalphosis Fusions are virtually nonexistent. And it even nets you a nice draw.

Well, of course, this is just me and my friend talking. We haven’t actually played it out, and creating the deck could be a bit difficult, since it’s two themes mixed in together. But I do believe it could be quite fun to use if built right, and so I am posting and asking here if anyone here has any other good ideas that could go along nicely with it.

But really, seriously, who is that Konami employee who made Black Brutdrago both FIRE and Dragon-Type? Because whoever did that is truly, truly boss.
